General Discussion>Shaving Facial Hair

Seriously boys, use a straight razor. Those DE's are nice little toys, but there is nothing like the feeling of putting an open blade against your face and controlling your own destiny (except the feeling of the learning curve on how to use these, and the styptic pencil's tingle on the cut).

Straightrazorplace.com is the forum I learned from, and it is a great forum dedicated to wet shaving.

I found out about safety razors when I was looking into straights, for me the straights take to much upkeep, and for safety razors there is practically none. I however did pick up a a straight at an antique store a couple weeks ago it may be something I try in the future and it was too good of a deal to pass up for $12. Image

skullnrose, I have a headblade you are welcome to if you want it. I used it for about a week before deciding it wasn't for me I didn't like the fact that you had to push it across the skin it was too easy to press down too much.

There's no way I could pass that up for $12. I like the scales.

Hmm, all this talk for getting rid of a little facial hair!

I never bothered. Mach 3/Gillette Gel and I simply take my time. If you stretch the skin or puff your cheeks out, you get a better shave by making the hair stand up better. Also, washing your face with warm water pre-shaving will soften the hairs, which will help (provided you use a sharp razor!).

Why do you all always make me want to spend my money on things I dont need??

I found myself browsing the web site going "Ok...I can spend this"... Then reality hit...this IS ANOTHER HOBBY.... I already:

collect/smoke cigars
smoke /collect pipes
hunt (squirrel,rabbit,deer,turkey,duck,geese)
fish (both standard and fly)
golf
roast coffee
manwhoring
collect guns/ammo
semi connoisseur of booze/wine/beer

Now this.....NO SIR's..I'm sticking to BIC as long as possible.

Quan and Prof with your supple faces...LOL

You know it. I wouldn't want you to start having nice shaves anyhow. With all the lady's that would be after you I'd have to beet them off with a stick.

I hate you all for making me take up another hobby! :-)

This sounds like a very good start.

When you guys get your new Merkurs do yourselves a favor and throw out the one blade that they come packaged with. Merkur Blades are not looked highly upon and the ones that are packaged with the razors are especially bad.
