Kershaw has a lower ERA, lower WHIP, 1 less SO with 5 less innings pitched.
Gave up 22 less hits, and 8 less runs than Dickey.
Not sure why you think Kershaw isn't qualified?

King Felix won the Cy young with a 13-12 record.
That year C.C. Sabathia had 21, David price and John Lester had 19 wins.

Dickey - Record: 20-6 ERA: 2.73 SO: 230 WHIP: 1.05 Complete Games: 5 Shutouts: 3 Innings Pitched: 233.2
Kershaw - Record: 14-9 ERA: 2.53 SO: 229 WHIP: 1.02 Complete Games: 2 Shutouts: 2 Innings Pitched: 227.2

Major difference is that the Dodgers actually had an offense to support Kershaw (we all know the Mets offense was lethargic at best). Dickey won 27% of the Mets games this year...and that doesn't even count the games the bullpen blew for him. Kershaw won 16% of Dodgers games this year. Granted Kershaw was hurt for a month, but Dickey was dominant all year. IMHO Kershaw shouldn't even be included in the top three.

I hear you...but King Felix was dominant that year and their bullpen blew a ton of games he should have won. Not saying the CC or Price shouldn't have won it that year, because they should have. :-)

The Dodgers actually scored LESS runs on the year than the Mets!
This season the Dodgers lost 9 games that Kershaw pitched where he gave up 2 or less runs, The Mets only lost 4 of Dickey's.
And since when did leading the MAJOR LEAGUES in ERA not mean you were DOMINANT?

I would also like to take this opportunity to cast my vote for Manager of the Year:

Dickey was the best pitcher in the NL all season. It can be argued that Gio had 21 wins to Dickey's 20, but there is no arguing who had a better season taking team, and support into account, which considering the recent King Felix CY, the voters do.

I figured Dickey had this one wrapped up. Great year for him and a great comeback story from washed up to great knuckleballer.

I don't really have a dog in this fight, but I'm willing to bet that the Dodgers hit better in the clutch than the Mets. The team with the most runs over the whole season doesn't really matter.

The Giants were 12th this year in runs scored and look how they turned out. Hell, the Rox were in the top ten, and look at how they turned out. They didn't provide enough offense to protect their pitchers in the long run.

When you're down 10-0, the opposing team is going to put in their garbage relief, which usually results in the opposing team putting up a bunch of useless runs. I didn't follow the Mets this year, nor the Dodgers, but I'm willing to bet that the Mets racked up a bunch of useless runs to pad their stat this year. Maybe Mac can enlighten us more in regards to his team.

Honestly Dom...

You think Kershaw deserved it over Dickey? Or are you just breaking balls?

A little of both, Chris.
If Kershaw would've won the award, I wouldn't think it was an injustice.
He finished second in the voting. It's not like I'm here saying Cliff Lee should've won.
Do I think Dickey deserves the Cy Young? Yes, but he was not a run away, lock for the award, winner, the way Verlander was last year.
And obviously, neither was Kershaw.
The reasons I favored Kershaw:
I think the Dodgers had a worse offense than the Mets.
They're the one national league team I keep a close eye on, due to Donny baseball, and without Kemp, they're awful with the stick.
They were carried by their pitching.
The other big reason I was in the Kershaw camp, I think he finished stronger than Dickey.
Dickey had a monster first half, but I always give an edge to someone who's surging, rather than fading.

I'm happy for R.A., and I do think he was a Cy Young caliber pitcher this year, just not the only one! :-)

I can get that Dom. The Met offense was fairly horrific at times. I watched most of RA's games this season, and the guy was pretty much the only reason they won more than 65 games this season. He put them in position to win every start but 1. How many guys can say that?
