General Discussion>We finally got rid of it!!!!!

My daughter was slow to wean off the pacifier and my strategy was to wait until we went out of town and "forget" it, which went surprisingly well.

I have heard of others taking their kid to the toy store and letting them trade in the pacifier for toys.

Now, I am trying to try to wean my daughter off the latest tech gadgets.

We gave my son's "bobby" to "babies who don't have one" just after he turned 1. My daughter who is 17 months younger never would take one, so we didn't have to bother with her. I would highly recommend avoiding them completely if you can, especially if the kid is breast-fed. It tends to encourage suckling for comfort rather than for nourishment. That can be a major PITA for the Mrs.

My daughter went through the same thing about 6mo ago. It's tough. We got her a tent for her bed and told her the "binky fairy" came, took the binky and left the tent. She's way too smart for that. She told me after the fun wore off that she'd like to give back the tent so she can have her binky back. Ugh.

It's a tough road since they can get pretty dependent. It'll get better every day.
