Thanks, Smoltzy, for all you did for the Braves.

Hope he gets another Championship. :-)

I hope he does too :-)

Guessing they will be using him as a bullpen arm, and spelling Paps in closing. That will let them move Masterson back in as a starter, which they need.

We got Baldelli too. The people in RI just shat themselves with joy because he's from Woonsocket.

I like Smoltz, but it's a weak consolation prize after losing out on Texeira.

Not a Braves fan, but I just can't see him in another uniform. Wow.

same exact feeling on this Vin. Ownership has clearly put away the checkbook this offseason. How can I get excited abut a 42 year Old who's arm could fall of anytime and a guy who can only play about 35% of the time due to some strange ailment :-)

Not to knock Smoltz and his career, but why do you think Atlanta's not keeping him?:-)

Kinda like Griffey and the Reds. He hit his peak w/ Seattle and we got stuck w/ the leftovers.

I am sad about this. I am a Braves fan and Smoltzie is my all-time favorite pitcher. I hope he does well.

If we got Teixiera, we'd've lost Youkilis. After that Denis Leary rant, Youk should be a Red Sox for life.

I Disagree here. Youk would have moved back 3B his naturaL position and Lowell would have been odd man out

Saw Youk interviewed when the Sox were trying to get Teixiera, he said he was the odd man out.

Texiera might be a good hitter, but I don't think I'd want to give up Youk for him. It's a non-issue anyway, since he's a yankee now, but I'd take Youk over Lowell, if for no other reason than the 5 years age difference. Add in the flexibility Youk has, and he's a clear winner. You think Lowell would be able to pop over to 1st base with no problems whatsoever? Me neither.

The Sox have been trying to dump Lowell ever since they got him.

Poor Red Sox. Maybe the Yankees could even things up and sign a guy like Rollie Fingers?

Yeah. Bringing back old azz pitchers is a GREAT idea. How about the Sox sign Randy Johnson or maybe Roger Clemens or Mike Mussina?

Oops!! The Spankees already did that. :-)

Wow, impressive move by the Sox. They signed an old over the hill pitcher to go with their two other old over the hill pitchers and an outfielder who's always hurt :-)
