General Discussion>CA Has Lost Another Brother
kelmac07 09:06 PM 02-10-2017
It is with great regret and sadness that I have been asked to inform the community that Cigar Asylum has lost another one of our brothers...and way too soon, I might add.

Mike "Volt" Melton passed away this past week from complications during elective hand surgery. Mike was a young 55 and full of life. For those that knew him, he was an avid biker, very generous, loved his bourbon, his sticks, and his friends and family. Mike was one of the first people I ever met on CA and we herfed every Thursday for almost 7 years. Mike was a firm believer in "smoke what you like, like what you smoke". At our weekly Thursday VCM Herf last night, we had the chance to meet Mike's parents and shared a lot of great memories. Myself and Barry (bscottskangum) were discussing how he was our first true cigar mentor. Mike retired from the Navy after 20 years of service and called Hayes, Va home. He dedicated a lot of his time with his motorcycle club "Military Vets".

He will be deeply missed. Please keep his family and especially his wife, Dot, in your prayers. Mike's wishes were that there would be no service and that his ashes be sent home to Alabama and spread over the lake on his parents property.

Mike is in the black shirt and glasses (legs crossed)...talking to T-Bone who was released from a surgery himself an hour before this photo was taken.

We will miss you "Volt". Please enjoy a stick this weekend in honor of Mike.

55 is way too young for this Inmate Mac. I do remember a special bombing run performed on Volt a number of years back at one of your VCM herfs. I think it totally blew him away:-)

Prayers and thoughts go out to Dot and his family. RIP brother Michael...

Mark, oh yes...this one. :-) :-) And he was TOTALLY blown away. I remember the carnage going on for well over a month.

Karen and I were so very saddened to hear this terrible news. Volt was a friend with whom we thoroughly enjoyed herfing, and our future herfs in Newport News will have a hole.

Happier days...

Complications from elective hand surgery? Somehow that makes it even worse.

Rest in peace, brother. We never met, but I feel your loss. Please Mac, extend our sympathy to his family, and his friends not on this board,

This is tremendously sad news. Never got to meet Michael, but we had some terrific bomb battles back in the day. He was one of the guys I really identified with in the old Club Stogie times.

Rest in Peace, Volt.
