All Cigar Discussion>What was the last n/c cigar that left you with a nicotine buzz?
brigey57 10:32 AM 07-23-2014
When I was a newbie cigar smoker (more than 20 years ago) I was given a full bodied cigar that almost made me sick. It was a family member's friend who thought it would be neat to get this new cigar smoker overloaded with nicotine and watch him get sick.

I was shaking and felt nauseated, I sat on the ground with my head between my knees for about 30 minutes. I didn't enjoy the moment.

Later in my life, now I am a medium to full bodied cigar smoker, I purchased a full bodied cigar that got me feeling the exact same way but I have to admit it has been a long time since those days (more than ten years now).

Has anyone had a similar recent experience where a cigar made you feel "weak in the knees" after smoking a medium to full bodied cigar?
What n/c brand was it?
How did it make you feel?
What did you do to get through the experience/event?
:-):-)

Gurhka..Master's Select?

I didnt get real sick, but I was very lightheaded for a hour or so, had trouble with my balance.

I drank a lot of water, and ate a hardy meal as if I was hung over.

A buddy of mine who was not a big smoker went with me and my friends to a cigar bar last year for my bachelor party. I think he was smoking one of the more full bodied acids?

Needless to say he spent a good portion of the evening in the rest room. He was down for the count for the rest of the night. Sleep was his only recovery.

My 1st Opus X Maduro...it was after Lobster night on the cruise ship (I ate like 8 or 10 tails) and it glued me to my seat! It was awesome, haven't had anything like it since and I used to smoke Cain F and Oliva V for breakfast (Seriously - on the way to work)

About two years ago I smoked an RP Edge on an empty stomach. Yeah, bad mistake. About a tablespoon of honey took the edge off of the nic buzz pretty quickly, though.

I was trying to remember but the last BAD one was from a Camacho. Mine was from the Blackout though....almost yacked on that adventure. I got some food and slept that off. That also probably explains why that other stick is stuffed all the way in the bottom of my humidor.

Joya De Nicaragua Antano Dark Corojo. Had to drink some regular Coke.

Only had a couple single NCs really kick my ass over the years, first was a Joyo de Nicaragua Celebracion when I first started smoking handmade cigars.

Most recent (several years back) was a Anejo Shark in the morning with no sleep and an empty stomach. Needed to eat immediately, actually broke down and ate McDonalds because that was my lone option.

Now, I've gotten nicotine sickness several times since when smoking multiple cigars in a day. Found that candy or a drink with simple sugar usually clears it up quickly.

Yeah I should have mentioned that I had very little to nothing in my stomach too. It was all part of the learning process since nobody told what to expect ahead of time.:-)

Casa Fernadez Miami Reserve Maduro last Saturday. I hadn't eaten much and was smoking it while BBQ was going. Started to get jittery so ate some chips and good to go :-)

Got a hell of a buzz off of a Surrogate Bone Crusher a week ago and kept me awake until about 2:00 AM haha

The only cigars I recall leaving me buzzing and feeling like I was gonna hurl was a CAO Brasilia or a Partagas Black back when I was newer to cigars and smoked pretty infrequently. That was 10-15 years ago and haven't touched either since...kinda like a bad night I had with Jack Daniels when I was 15. Never again.

The Cu-Avana Punisher left me pretty....punished :-)

That was a few years ago when I was still learning what I liked and when I smoked infrequently. Still, I won't be having another anytime soon.

Opus XxX Power Ranger's usually did it to me. Haven't had one in about 6 or 7 years.

Opus A did it to me once too. Stood up for the first time after finishing and sat back down for another 30 minutes.

One I vividly remember is a greycliff double espresso way back when, after a morning of moving and not eating. Me and my two friends all got feeling pretty sick.

More recently, there's not one alone that did it, but last year or the year before I was handed a PSD4 at 2am at the end of the pier, after smoking about a dozen cigars that day. Had to run for the candy bars after that one :-)

El Rico Habano (original blend) was the last n/c to do it. Felt real bad.

CC: This year I got a hold of a trusty friend, a Boli RC, and don't know what it was, but it hit me really hard. So hard in fact, I still look at the box with a furrowed brow. I have had several since and no problem. Go figure.

cigars are like liquors. each one can affect me differently. I have a sensitive constitution therefore I stick to light colored wrappers in the morning and try not to smoke on an empty stomach. in the very least sip an espresso while having one if it's ebeen a while since I've eaten. last one that gave me a buzz was a Nica Rustica Maduro. Took care of it with a beer and tall glass of water.
