All Cigar Discussion>"Little" project at work

So my boss decided in order to reduce clutter and make the humidor look cleaner, we'd switch from open boxes to trays/bins for everything, organized by manufacturer. We have 200 trays/bins now on the way in shipments of 48 trays/bins each. Shipment one came in yesterday, which means today was a fun day at work. I called it quits for the day after 11 hours, with 9 left to fill. I figure it'd be somethin cool for y'all to look at so I'll give you some in progress pics as I go.

This first set I took at around 1, 3 hours ish in, so its not a perfect before and after.

The Davidoff of Geneva and Altadis sections I got done first, and luckily had some already Avo and Griffin branded trays/bins to work with:

The 6 trays on the bottom are what were filling up this nice little void I made:

Here's looking down from the Altadis section:

Here's that same view after getting things in bins and stickered:

And the reverse view from what will be the start of the General Cigars section:

Here's the little corner section that you could see a bit in the first pic:

Image

All our EPC, Undercrown, and most of our San Lotano stuff was down here taking up everything but the upper most shelf fully visible, with all the back stock I've got stacked up here blocking the way to get into the section. You can actually walk down in there and we have some more storage space, its a win-win.

And here's a close up of one of the trays/bins:

Shout out to the folks at Ashton who so kindly hooked us up with the trays/bins.

I'll post some more after I finish up the General Cigars stuff tomorrow with the 9 trays/bins I have left. We get shipment two in on Monday

Great job!

Will the other manufacturers complain about their sticks in Ashton displays? Can they do anything about it? Just curious about the politics...

We asked everyone about them, no one else wanted to hook us up, so we just went ahead with it with the Ashton ones. We're gonna be asking for shelf talkers and stickers and stuff to put on them to make them more branded to the company who's sticks are in there, but for the time being they'll have to deal with it.

I forgot to mention, we're likely gonna stop using either the top or bottom shelf throughout the humidor and use those for storage as we'll have the room to do so when all is said and done.

Whelp, a quick 3 hours finished off the last of the bins from this shipment. Now I get to wait for shipment two on Monday.

The bottom row now binified(two bins of kristoffs not pictured):

Image

Close-er up of where I finished up, ended up going with Miami Cigars, Kristoff, and DE non-flavored stuff(still need one bin to house the JdN Celebracions, Ligas will get their own bin as well):

Image

A more head on view of it, you can see a bit more space has opened up:

Image

And the small little void I managed to make by moving the Nestor Mirandas(apparently we still have some Danno 2010s if anyone liked those):

Image

The Art Decos get to stay in their own boxes as we're no longer gonna carry em, so its a waste to use a bin for em. And none of these show the cabinets out front where we had our Room 101 Darumas and La Sirenas, both of which are in the humidor itself now.

Oh, and as for the after work smokes, last night was an Ashton Cabinet No. 1 that had a touch of wrapper damage so I got it for free(hooray damaged sticks system!), and today is one of the new Ortegas for the month, the Dandy McCoy, very broadleaf-y, might need a month or two.

Whelp, its been a week, guess its time for an update.

On Wednesday we got shipment 2 in, and after tearing apart the boxes to get to the damn bins(Ashton just had to package them individually in their own boxes protected by styrofoam and those plastic/styrofoam sheets, all in big boxes of 6. Took two hours just to get the SOBs out), I managed to finish off the first big wall.

Image

Image

Here's the space that cleared out just from moving the CAOs over to the General Cigars section:

Image

Came in today to finish out the second half of the bins, and heres whats left on the back wall:

Image

And the space I cleared out over both days:

Image

On a side note, I did manage to find 16 original label 601 Green Coronas, 5 Red Torpedos, and 4 Black Rabitos(smoked one, and the wrapper was so light bleached the wrapper from under the band looked like a totally different leaf, still smoked great though). Twas a nice little surprise

Local Tinderbox runs this system for Ashton & Davidoff, but not much else(could be a few, have not been in a while)
