All Cigar Discussion>Will my cigars be OK?
Jon11 06:57 PM 07-19-2011
Thanks to alot of the suggestions on this forum, I have about $300 in cigars being shipped from CI. There is only one problem. The order was shipped today and wont arrive until Monday the 25th, I will be out of town until Wednesday night the 27th. That is a total of 9 to 10 days that the cigars will be out of a humidor. I do have someone who can put the package inside my house once it arrives on Monday, but not in the humidor until I get home on Wednesday. Will the cigars be ok, or should I worry?

If they'd be sitting on your front porch, I'd be worried, but inside you're house, you're good. The last time I ordered from CI/cbid, they were quite wet anyway.

Cigars are a lot more resilient than most people think. This time of year though I would be more nervous about them sitting out in the heat for a few days. Do you have anyone to intercept the package after being delivered to either put in your/their house until you get home? Like others mentioned sticks usually come from large vendors a bit on the wet side to begin with plus the fact that this time of year with the higher humidity I wouldn't be worried about them getting dry but the heat should be your biggest concern.

Ha, I usually toss a box on my desk and it takes a couple weeks till I finally get around to putting the smokes in the humidor. :-) Never had a problem. Cigars are a lot more hardy than people think.

Its 110 over here today and I am expecting an order of 900$ from Atlantic Cigars. Hopefully the cigars don't get too damaged :-)

Bingo. They will be fine inside your house. Just give them a bit more time to rest in your humidor before lighting them up if you have any concerns.

I have a question first on the origin country of your cigar and what is the normal temp of its origin country. If you think the temp on your house is just the same on the cigar's origin country, there will be no problem with it.

I think OP is a good reason of why CI/Famous ship cigars wet: it keeps down on returns in situations like this. The downside is that it takes a month or more for the sticks to acclimate at 65%RH.
