All Cigar Discussion>What's up with the CAO LX2?
808 01:26 PM 05-25-2011
Just bought a mazo of these as they were one of my long time favorites. Pulled one out OTT cut it and the cap fell off clean. The draw was extremely tight and the cigar was almost flavorless. Had to put it down a little past halfway as my mouth was getting sore from pulling on it.

I figure I can drybox them for a while as the first seemed soaking wet but I'm dissapointed that the "bite" that I came to love might need a set of dentures. Hopefully it was just this one.

Just me or anybody else experiencing the same?

I heard theyve been buying bulk tobacco now, and their stuff is probably going to be different every box

I had a similar experience with a Tatuaje. It does happen from time to time with a handmade product. :-)

Care to elaborate?

I suspect there is some misunderstanding going on there.

I used to love some CAO cigars, but now, they all seem to terrible. I have not purchased a CAO cigar is quite a while. (Except when I purchased a box of CAO Americas by accident on Cbid! No one outbid my stupid miss-clicked bid. :-) )

So basically, you're just regurgitating an unsubstantiated rumor.

I heard that shpo cigars got the better tobacco too.

I also heard that McDonalds hamburgers are made from ground worms.

Oh, and that you get cooties from kissing girls.

:-)

BTW, please post an introduction over in New Inmates. Thanks.

I watched a video where CAO claims to suck test every cigar with a machine, I have already regurgitated my unsubstantiated rumor for the day, I have already made my introduction, I don't know what an shpo is, and to top that off, I apparantly now have cooties.

I think your confusing cooties with herpes and kissing with...never mind.

That Mcdonalds rumor might hold some weight :-)

But seriously CAO cigars were really never good to me to begin with. I've have a few over the past couple years, never did it for me. I've tried probably 6-8 different ones...nothing.

Maybe you got a dud? Maybe they need some Humi time. Report back after 3 weeks and try another one.

Dont forget that CAO was bought out. All of their product is selling really cheap now so who knows what the future holds for them and which blends will survive.

I second that. After Cano Ozener (founder), Tim Ozgener (son of founder) and Jon Huber (marketing) left, I’m sure things aren’t as good as they used to be. Because of them leaving and company being sold, I haven’t had a CAO since.

Yeah, I was hoping this would be a shot at getting the "last of a good product" at a good price. I'm betting that it's just a dud as I'm doubtful that this is "new" product since the buy out.
Well, into the dry box they go.

i was about to mention this exact instance but it seems that you all have this under control.

i bought CAOs just before then. i hesitate to buy them now.

ill stick my toe in the water at some point. i hope it isnt cold.

my B&M stopped selling CAO after the sale of the company. i will have to go out of my way to get them if i want them. I have not had too many in recent years as of late anyway.

Maybe Perdomo stopped making cigars for them?

Depends which "buyout" you're talking about Clay.

CAO hasn't been CAO since late 2006 or early 2007, or even earlier if you count the way they tied themselves to Torano. Since then, they've been passed from one parent company to another through accusations and mergers - this latest one with General Cigar & Swedish Match merging marks number three or four depending on how you chose to count them, although this latest one seems to have resulted in the biggest and most noticeable shakeup for the organization, sometimes causing the mistaken impression that the company was just recently sold.
