Size:4 7/8 x 40
Origin: Dom. Republic
Wrapper: Shade grown
Filler: Dom. Rep
Strength: Med/Full Body
Smoke Time: 1:10
Cutter: Xicar (first cap)
Draw was perfect, although the burn needed a few touch ups. Only aged a month in my 65% coolidor, the #5 like so many other Opus X I have smoked before, really needs more time. Great initial flavors of aged tobacco, sweet earthy notes, maybe some vanilla, with nice smoke output. Very smooth cigar, but lacked a little (not sure what) on the back end. Ash held on almost to the band in true Fuente form, and I got a nice little buzz as the strength picked up from medium body to full towards the end. Great little smoke that I look forward to revisiting in a year or so (18 left in my humidor). Would I recommend this cigar? Yes if the price is right, as this is one of my favorite vitolas.

Thanks for the review.
I have some of these coming, prefer larger vitolas though.
Definitely agree that FFOX need a year to three to become stellar.

Give them a few years and that burn line will change as well.

I enjoy Opus right off the truck, with years on them as I do OR's. Opus have burn issues, Opus smokers accept the fact they have burn issues. Do they all, no, do a VERY large % of them, yes. I still buy them, I still smoke them.

Yea, a very large % do have burn issues, not all but most. I cant tell you the last time I smoked a fresh Opus, maybe its time I dig into a recent one and give it a whirl.

I still smoke a lot of freshies, love them just as much as a good 5-6 year old, not much of a fan of the OR's though, only had maybe 12-15 of them, but they just seemed to have lost to much of the punch and spice that I love in them.

Thanks for the review Ty. Have you ever smoked the Petite Lancero or the Perfection #4? Any thoughts on these?
