General Discussion>Just hit the deer!
BC-Axeman 11:40 PM 03-11-2011
I was driving on windy mountain highway here just outside of a small town earlier this evening when suddenly a pickup truck was coming head on straight at me.
I had just enough time to say "Oh sh1t!!!" and try to get out of his way but he kept going straight for me. BANG! Crunch of metal mixed with the paper bag pop in your ears from airbags deploying. Two totaled vehicles. F150 and a Rav4. Nobody hurt. Just a little sore from the seatbelts and hitting the air bag.
I am just going to say right now that I am very happy to still be here and cars and other "things" are just THINGS. With all the bad stuff going on in the world and the quickness of how a situation can change it should be more noticeable than ever how little these "things" really matter in the bigger picture we live in.
Hug you loved ones. Try to be a positive influence to everything that happens around you. And if a deer jumps out in front of your truck, just hit it! And stay the f#(k in you own lane.
Thank you God.

**** Lance I'm glad you're good! I almost hit one at work, I remember bracing for the air bag, dropping my hands to the 12 position and just thinking this is gunna suck. I was fortunate enough to stop in time. Again I'm glad you're still good bro! Do they really have deer in the bay? Lol

Glad you're OK, Lance. As a veteran of many a deer hit, I concur. Stay in your lane unless you're sure the area you are going to avoid the deer is clear.

My last accident was a near head-on from another vehicle trying to avoid a cat.
The cat survived. The driver of the car ****ed up his leg something fierce, broke a couple ribs of mine, messed up my foot enough that I can no longer walk 18 holes without some major discomfort, and totaled both cars.
Smooth move.....:-)

Wow Lance, I'm really glad you're safe and sound. That must have been a serious pucker moment. Someone or something was looking out for you. You walked away from something that could have really been bad.

:-)

This!
One of the first things I taught my daughters when they were learning to drive.

Now comes the great adventure of trying to replace the car.

BTW, I never saw anything that the guy was swerving to avoid. Before or after. It took about 2 seconds from the time I saw him until we hit.

Wow....reading stories like these always remind us how quickly things can change for us and our loved ones. Pleased to hear that you came out with only bumps and bruises.
