Entertainment>What's Better and Why: Street Fighter II or Mortal Kombat?

Street Fighter II and any of it's incarnations (must say II in the title) or either of the first two Mortal Kombat games? Which is better? It's a toss up to me. Street Fighter is fun, but the blood reigns supreme in MK. I guess it comes down to a personal choice. Which do you like best?

Street Fighter is perhaps a better fighting game and a far stronger franchise, especially when it gets into Alpha, but I have never been good or really into fighting games, so I had to vote for Mortal Kombat because it was fun, chock full of absolutely ludricrous violence and I could actually play it and win so, it was a lot more fun than any of the more sophisticated titles in the genre that might require skill or finesse.

Both are great games but I always like MK better. Get over here!

I prefer MKII even though SF may be the more popular game across the entire franchise as akumushi said.
To me, it had slightly better graphics, the gameplay was much improved (doing natural movements for weapons etc. instead of the SF way of doing a half-circle with the joystick and pressing 2-buttons simultaneously), the fighting engine was much better and more well rounded, and of course FATALITIES and babalities!
:-)
How can you resist a baby Baraka.
