I like this part:
Cuban parliament chief Alarcon, who often speaks on U.S. issues, told The Associated Press the cable did not contain anything new or interesting. "It seems to me Jonathan Farrar was a little depressed that day" that he wrote the dispatch, Alarcon said.

I believe I read that the article was written in February, before some of Raul's programs were put into effect.

c'mon, Tom. Diplomats are allowed to "cable drunk" aren't they?
In my opinion, the next US presidential election will be the most important for US-Cuban relations.

Gotta love this part:
The government's "direction and leadership remains muddled and unclear, in great measure because its leaders are paralyzed by fear that reforms will loosen the tight grip on power that they have held for over 50 years," it said.
Of course we all know that IS NOT true.
The true cause is the Embargo!
:-)
Yeah, that's the ticket!!!

Funny thing is he was a very good and serious actor but will forever be remembered for this role in Batman.
I guess best to be remembered at all.
He was one of the lucky Cubans that got out.

I just hope he wasn't as bitter about such circumstances (re. his memorable role) as Alec Guinness became about his role in Star Wars....

Enough to keep them solvent for at least 10 months, apparently!
