At my daughter's high school band concert last night, they played a medley of theme songs from all branches of the armed svcs. The band director asked that anyone who is or had served in the armed forces stand up when their theme song was played. It was a pretty moving experience and the crowd reaction was awesome.
My humble gratitude to those who served.

Back in 1775
My Marine Corps came alive.
First there came the color blue
To show the world that we are true.
Then there came the color gold
To show the world that we are bold.
Then there came the color red
To show the world the blood we've shed.
On Nov 10, 1775, the Continental Congress voted for our existence in a bar called Tun Tavern. We were born in a bar and if called to do so die in battle. We will never surrender to anyone and still be the most professional fighting tacticians this world will ever encounter.
On this day it is not about the world. Call me selfish and conceited but this is the day where we put on our best, share the camaraderie, and remember the good times. We celebrate tradition and history and share it with those who will continue the fight after we are gone. Most importantly we remember those who gave all they could for us to enjoy this celebration of 235 years.
