General Discussion>Some $*** just pisses me off
gvarsity 10:01 PM 10-08-2010
Left my debit card on my desk at work yesterday. Wasn't in the office today but thought about going in for no other reason than to get my card. Well 845$ in fraudulent charges later should have gone back. Whoever took the card was making charges before I got home. Had to be the maintenance crew as I know my co-workers too well and the charges just would not make sense for any of them. I actually know most of the maintenance staff pretty well too so must have been someone new. Still just pisses me off. Going to be a PITA to get this straightened out. I should get the money back but some a$$hole just got close to a grand of stuff for nothing and is unlikely to get caught. Anyway I just needed to vent.

Were the purchases made on line or in person? If on line you can find out where they were sent. If in person you can check video surveillance. You still have a chance to catch the SOB.

Generally wouldn't worry about it which is why I didn't race back. I trust all of the people I work with and all the regular cleaning staff. In fact I'm trying to figure out if I possibly dropped it somewhere else. As I think about it there is a possibility I may have dropped it at the grocery store.

Could be a lot worse. A lot of people have real problems. Still just pisses me off. Stupid purchases. I'll call the police tomorrow and file a police report. What a PITA. Thanks for the support. I just needed to vent because it is so irritating.

That sucks.
What is equally as sad is that one time, my wife's credit card was taken from her pocket book at work.
Where she kept it, she was readily able to identify it was the phone guy that had to have taken it as he was the only one there all day that could access it.
I contacted the company once we recognized all the charges and got a list of where they took place.
I called the vendors and identified it was precisely this phone guy they described.
Called authorities.
Called credit card company.
No one did a darn thing about it and they just wrote off the charges.

I don't really have the time but I actually kind of enjoy trying to track the bastard down. I think having taken a little personal initiative motivated the investigating officer to do more than file a report to validate the bank recovery. We'll see though the officer said they would be out of town until Thurs.
