Accessory Discussion / Reviews>Online humidor retailer suggestions?
cigars_n_scotch 09:42 AM 01-24-2010
Hello fellow BOTLs/SOTL's,

I am in need of some help. I have a friend who wants to get her fiance a humidor for his 30th birthday upcoming (I got him started on smoking cigars, now it begins!! :-)). I'd like some recommendations for online humidor retailers that are legit. It seems that she tried to order something from premiumhumidors.com and there were some issues, something about it being phoney or something. So she's asking me for some help.

She was looking at a 35-count glass top, but I will talk her into getting him at least a 150-count!! :-)

My wife bought me mine so I'm looking for sites that CA members have used before and are good to deal with.

All help is much appreciated. Thank you.

edit: I'm doing some searching as well. I found http://www.tampahumidor.com, any good?

How about http://www.cigarhumidors-online.com ? Site looks cheesy but you never know.

www.cheaphumidors.com (Don't hate because they have "cheap" in their name) They're a very good company with great customer service. Sam is on here under the name CheapHumidors. I have seen where some have gotten some "Imperfect" humis and then can't find anything wrong with them.

+1 I've never bought a humidor from them, but there shipping is quick and the products are as described.

I recently bought a desktop off E-bay from a guy name crocidilebob. Handmade from native Maine woods, heavy and well made. It will hold a 100+, lifetime guarantee and for $79 shipped a bargain. I have also picked up Diamond Crown (Reed & Barton) humidors cheap off E-bay. I have used Cheaphumidors.com also and would have no problems buying from them again.

+3 on Cheaphumidors. I bought an imperfect from him about 2 months ago, I can't find the imperfect part about it! http://www.cheaphumidors.com/Merchan...vc?Screen=SFNT

Also a +1 on the waxing moon humidors. If I was going to be buying another humidor, it would definitely be from Ed.

You need to be careful with glass-topped humidors -- these can be leaky. Not trying to steer you away, but just want you to know you that you may have to seal it up around the glass to prevent leaks.

A leaky humidor can be a real headache...

I agree with what others have said...

BUT also look at CigarBid auctions to catch a nice humi at a great discount. A ton of people use this site for cigars and accessories.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. Much appreciated. I gave her all of the options mentioned. Cigarbid would be a bit difficult because I don't think she'll know how to use it.
Thanks for the info on the glass-top, I'll let her know.

+1

I have bought several humidors for friends there and never had a problem.

When I bought my Medici the first one was damaged and they replaced it without question.

Can't speak to their products or customer service, but don't ever sign up for their mailing list. It's always the same and you can never get off it, ended up having to add it to my junk and ignore rules to stop it coming in. 100% spam :-)

For what it is worth, this appears to be a solid deal and the added bonus of already having beads and a digital hygrometer is a nice selling point IMO...that saves you another $50+(give or take)....

No affiliation.... Just something to consider....
