General Discussion>Went out for a Zhu Zhu
floydpink 09:40 AM 12-24-2009
... the hottest kid's toy this year. The guy at Toys R Us laughed and said to camp out overnight if you want a chance.

My 5 year old daughter has had a tough week after losing her dog to old age and coming home empty was a rough way to end the week which seemed like living a real life Marley and Me program.

On the way home I saw a sign for Shih Tzu and figured it sounded like Zhu Zhu so I picked up my daugher to "just look" and planned on holding to our vow to wait a year before getting another dog.

Anyone want to guess how this ended?

A lap dog was the last thing on my list but after turning down a yappy teacup Yorkie for 1500 bucks, this guy seemed like he could grow on me and made my daughter smile, so the checkbook flew out of my pocket.:-)

I've always considered a guy with a lap dog of questionable orientation and am praying I am not carrying that stigma at this point and sure could use some reassurance from my brothers.

Congrats! I've had a few ****-Tzu's. Great pets and smoking buddies.

Shih Tzu's are interesting dogs, despite their size, they aren't your average little lapdog, and they do require some work. They are small dogs that have sort of a big dog "I'm in charge here" attitude and they will try to take over if you let them. You, and everyone in your family has to constantly be the alpha boss or the dog will start to develop a personality where it thinks it's in charge of you and will turn into an stuborn, annoying, yappy, attention mongering little dustmop. Other than that, they are good dogs and very loyal.

Oh, and their coats will turn into a royally tangled & knotted PITA unless you groom them daily.

that's what I am hearing. Apparantly they aren't a picnic to housebreak either.

Coming from a Border Collie to this should be an interesting journey.

The Border Collie could tell you the theory of relativity.

I don't know what you guys in the south and west call it, but in the midwest, that's a purse! :-)

You'll love the Shih Tzu, by the way. :-)

Always better than a $ 10 toy...although a tad more needy. Congrats on the addition to the family. :-)

Very nice thing to do to make your daughter happy for Christmas, Pete. :-)

I was trying to get my niece a Zhu Zhu for Christmas as well, but all they had were accessories for it. They had a bicycle for it, but it was missing the things where the feet go.

You know....Zhu Zhu's pedals.

Sorry...lame attempt at a Xmas joke. :-)

I actually had no idea what a Zhu Zhu was until I just googled it. I guess I don't get out much. They are genius! Who ever invented them is going to be rich.

Should've known. I had no idea who Miley Cyrus was until she came to our local mall and the line extended three city blocks to my work entrance.
