I passed my Cisco pre-cert exam for work.
:-)
Now the real fun of the 10 week course and, from what I hear, horrible test begins.

Good luck! Hardness depends on how much you are used to the terms and such.
I've used the Network Security Architecture and MPLS/VPN Architecture (I and II) books as references in teaching grad courses and also used them as references in jobs that used other (Juniper) gear. Professional grade references for sure!
I don't miss my years as a senior network engineer for Intel, Boeing and the like.

Well, I'm used to it in practice... I can write cisco scripts, build interfaces in IADs and core routers, but from what I hear the wording is obnoxious and really different. Don't know how much MPLS will be covered in the CCENT, but I'd guess not much (I'm quite familiar with that too, but in practice, not in cisco terms).
We have Juniper edge routers (I work repair for an ISP), and I pretty much hate them.
Anyway, can I borrow your brain when I eventually have to take my tests? I'll take care of it, I promise...

You're more than welcome to it. I haven't used those cells since I quite teaching grad network protocols in 2004 (maybe '03). These days, I look at networking from a security perspective only, which is substantially different from network engineering in general.

All the pre-test really is is my company telling me they think I'm smart enough to take the classes and the test. The cool thing, however, is that they are paying for all of it.
