On Tuesday I took my psych test. Five parts, about a thousand questions. Part two had over 500 questions. We started at 8:00 am and finished at about 2:30 pm, with no breaks for bathroom or for food. The test was very intrusive into my life, by the time it was done I felt like I went threw an anal exam. I don't know as of right now how I did. I think that I did well. I'll just have to wait and see. Saturday will be my physical agility test. Wish me good luck.

Did you get the asked this trick question?
"Do you like boys or girls?"
The State Police use that one during their lie detector test.
Good luck on the rest of the exam.

I remeber filling out a back ground packet for Ventura Sheriff's Dept and thinking "wow I thought I lived a good life!" those things are insane lol!

I remember taking the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory when testing for jobs. Great true-false questions...some I remember.
"I like to tease small animals"
"I like the taste of my own blood"
"God speaks to me personally"
Don, good luck with the physical ability test...sorry I wasn't able to call yesterday, i will give it a shot tomorrow.

Got into the "Love your Mother" discussion during my psych after the MMPI. The guy took it a little too far, and I snapped. He ended the interview and I thought I was toast. Got hired anyway...maybe in part because my Chief thought what I did was kinda cool.

That has been my least favorite part of the process both times I've done it. The interview w/ the Psych who (it seems to me) is just trying to trip you up or psychoanalyze every word you say.
You know I understand the reasoning behind some of the questions but IMO some of them have no bearing on reality. Like the stupid "Did you want to be a gardener" question... WTF does that have to do with anything? I mean if the question in the psyche is would you rather be a gardener or a logger I can understand the intent behind that but man some of the questions are completely left field.

And most of the psychologists I saw were far from what I would call "normal".

"Do you think Come On Eileen is the best song ever?"
This would be something I feel should be asked!
Congrats Don, let us know how this goes for you.

My reaction would have been much the same as my reaction to the Mother-Love questions, Dave.

Many psychologists become such because of their own issues, looking for a self-cure. (that's putting it in the most simple terms)
I know many have some of the lowest self-esteem issues I have ever seen - and I have worked with many. As I may have to do referrals, I make it a point to get to know as many of them as possible. WOW!!! Some of them are real head-cases.
Of course, there are some real professionals out there, solid people who do excellent work.

Isn't it? Is this a trick question?
:-)
Drummer starts out in video, then nowhere to be found later. He quit in the middle of the shoot. (Scary that I know that)
I remember taking a ALL day test. Went into crap that had me scratching my head. In the end, you will never believe what it was for. Not for the PD. It was for a freaking Sales Manager position at Bamberger's (now owned by and changed to Macy's). I passed, was hired, and quit in four months.

You'll be fine Don. For as long as you didn't try to kill the dude while you were answering questions

I suppose they figure that if they bombard you with so many questions, eventually you'll drop your guard if you're some kind of deviate. I took a similar test as what has been discussed here some years back, probably the MMPI, and I'm sure you saw the same pattern I did of being asked the same basic question in about a dozen different ways, each with a little wrinkle.
I dated a girl that was a psych major a couple of times in college. Not to paint them all with the same brush, but easily the oddest chick I ever dated. I didn't feel like I had the energy to navigate my way through the minefield of odd little mind games and presuppositions, et al, that was apparently necessary to even get to know her. She wasn't THAT hot.

Everybody knows that "Come On Eileen" is the second best song ever right behind "Muskrat Love".
