General Discussion>just a little frustrated at my gov.
troy d. 09:45 PM 10-16-2009
today was a hard day. i work for civil service at a naval aviation repair center. i work as a jet engine mechanic for the f414 plat form. it is what powers ef-18's. or f-18's. the gov. has cut the military roughly around 30%. this cut was retro active. when the president took office. i worry about the pilots that fly the planes and the people on the ground that they provide air support for. my question for you to ponder is this: how do we sleep at night knowing that our troops are not getting what they need to do their job? you see they can't do the job correctly when they only get 70%.

i know that i should not talk about the gov. but this is not about politics is about how i feel for my military.

OK, I'll bite.
First, doubt it won't end up political if starts with being upset at a Governor.
Next and more important, what does the Governor of Florida (Charlie Crist) have to do with the US military expenditure?
I'll view this as a new learning experience for me.

You accusations against the members of CA is far, far across the line, little ashhole. Your implication that you are one of the few who cares or contributes is repugnant and insipid.

Close your account, go away, and if you ever grow up, try it all again.

Gov = Government

And I agree. When I was a park ranger they wanted us to "police" the park with nothing but cell phones. Can't do our jobs without the tools to keep us safe to finish them.

What kind of weed you smoking down there, son?

For the 2009 fiscal year, the base budget of the Department of Defense rose to $518.3 billion. Adding emergency discretionary spending, supplemental spending, and stimulus spending brings the sum to $651.2 billion.[1][2] Defense-related expenditures outside of the Department of Defense constitute between $274 billion and $493 billion in additional spending, bringing the total for defense spending to between $925 billion and $1.14 trillion in 2009.[3]from wiki

i did not go to wiki for my information. my program manager has quarterly meeting after every quarter. he tells us what we are being budgeted through out the year. over this past fiscal here we lost roughly 30% give or take few percent.

The military spending has gone UP with Obama in office, not a 30% cut that you blamed on him in your post. If the military can't budget properly that really isn't Obama's fault, is it?

Lets review: Military spending has gone up in 2009 after Obama has taken office. If your program has been cut, you might find those responsible and blame them .. it sure as hell isn't Obama.

I'm starting a collection to buy Troy a shift key for his keyboard.

While I understand that writing ability has nothing to do with mechanical skill*, I would be more scared that multi-million dollar aircraft and pilots' lives are being entrusted to someone who writes at below a sixth-grade level.

You might be a great mechanic, and I hope you are, but your posts are extremely difficult to read, partly because of their extremely random nature, partly because of the lack of adhering to conventions when it comes to punctuation, capitalization, etc.

* I've seen this in my own family. My father barely graduated high school, but he can rebuild a carburetor. I have a Master's degree with an English minor in my undergrad, I can build a computer from parts, but I can't even change my oil.

where are you finding that military spending has gone up and in what areas. i work at naval air station jacksonville fl. flight hours on that base alone have gone from 50,000 hours a year to 35,000 hours a year. that is result of a budget reduction. not because the military didn't budget correctly. military budgets are given through quarterly installments. this 30% reduction is not on one program here or one program there. this happened across the whole military.
