OK this pisses me off in multiple ways - as a professional producing products, as a business owner selling products, and as a cigar reviewer. The guy that runs the weekly cigar site, stole all the iPhone cigar apps (using hacked software) to do a 'review' - and actually brags about it in the video!
Low class to say the least.

Let KenS know - he's the creator of Mobile Stogie.
All other issues aside, it's a pretty sh*tty "review."

But then we would be legally required to declare them as hazardous materials.

I thoguht they already were? GF's should come with a bio-hazard bag to dump the rest of the stick/ashes in when you finally throw-up from the stentch!
...sorry, didn't mean to thread-jack.

At least he says it's an amazing cigar app....that should help sales.
But yeah, that's a douche move

Here is the comment that I posted to his website:

I happen to be the author of Mobile Stogie, and have spent literally hundreds of hours developing it. At $3.99 I would have thought it was fair to expect somebody hosting a website about stogies to actually pay the $3.99. Hell, for that matter, I likely would have given you a free copy for doing the review. I am continuing to work on new features, and another version will be coming out shortly. I hope you continue to like the app, but I also hope you don’t continue to steal from me.
By the way, I was referred to your site by a number of people on a popular cigar forum, who also think it’s a bad business practice for you. For me it’s only $3.99, so no big deal, but really … what a shame.
Thanks.

I'm so tempted to send the same note to his advertisers, but no sense in kicking up a storm over something that is just a hobby for me
:-)
This too shall pass

No, actually he has now replied to my comment. Maybe still a bit shady (try before you buy applies to shareware, not things that aren't sold that way), but at least he was straight-up about responding. I actually thought he'd just delete my comment.
Again, I don't want to make a mountain out of a molehill, but I do appreciate my fellow inmates jumping to my defense
:-)

He has a link on his site to Cigar Asylum. I wonder if he is a member here.

Ken,
Thanks for the comment. I’m using Installous as a try before you buy type of thing and have every intention of buying the apps that I see myself using regularly. I’m really enjoying your app and will certainly buy it as soon as I fully evaluate it. If you would like, to make up for my mention of stealing the app, shoot me an email with some banner code in it and I will gladly post an ad on my site. Again, I apologize for talking about stealing apps, and I can assure you that I certainly wouldn’t have talked about it if I thought it would portray me negatively.
Notice he only says he wouldn't have TALKED ABOUT stealing them - but his feelings about it are still the same. He meant to do it and still doesn't apologize. Scum.
What's next - going to steal some cigars from your local shop and 'evaluate them' before you buy the ones you end up liking? Thief!

Man that sucks! Ken you put out a great app and people should just buy the thing it cost less than almost any cigar out there.
