General Discussion>Toothpaste vs. Tooth Powder
kzm007 04:17 PM 05-08-2009
Is one better than the other?

I've heard that the powder gives a more thorough cleaning, and I think(?) it's SLS-free? I'm looking for something that's not going to spoil my breakfast, since I usually eat right after I brush and then brush again...crazy :P

Dental-folk or those with teeth :-) your thoughts?

Whatever you use do be careful of overbrushing. Teeth were not designed to have powders or pastes rubbed against them and it is possible to wear the enamel by brushing to often or using a hard bristle.
My wife learned this the hard (read expensive) way.

:-) Especially true if you have gum recession and part of the root is exposed. I have some issues with that now as a result.

This is the first I've heard of tooth powder too. I say stick with toothpaste and floss.

Baking Soda and Peroxide really gets teeth white.

I don't have any soda at the moment, but I think I'll try a few drops of peroxide at least, along with the Crest or whatever it is downstairs...all tastes bad to me afterwards...except for Aquafresh. That's spearmint I think.

Thanks all, belated but sincere.

I know a fella in his 50's that has never used anything other than baking soda and water. His teeth are actually a light grey now.
