All Cigar Discussion>Unique ways of lighting cigars

Well we had a nice day over the weekend here in Ohio so we decided to have a fire. When we do this I normally will enjoy a cigar or two. Well this time we were out at the fire and I forgot my lighter. We will normally get the fire nice and big so the flame is sticking out the top of the pit. So my girlfriend says jokingly “Why don’t you light it up there.” So I throw some more wood in the fire pit get the fire nice and big then there I go lighting the cigar.

It really couldn’t have turned out better. The flame was about 3 inches from popping out the top there and I held the cigar around 2-6 inches above that so the cigar never hit the flame or came that close even. Got a very nice even light to the cigar at that!! :-)

Camera went crazy and came out with a picture like this.

It would be nice if I had a bunch of old cigar boxes to do this with at some point. The cigar tasted and burned fine all the way to the end. Thought I would post this to see if anyone else has any strange ways they have used to light their cigars before?

You can't enjoy a roaring fire unless you have your cigar lit too. You got to find ways to improvise and you sure did it. That last pic. is cool :-)

I've been using matches a lot lately, which is very strange for me! :-)

I've seen my father light a cigarette by arching a pair of pliers across a battery one time when we were stranded on the lake with a dead boat. I doubt it would work with a cigar, but it sure was funny watching him do it with a cigarette.

That's one way to light up a stogie, very unique.
You may also want to turn the last photo in to the Roswell fanatics. I believe you have one of those mysterious flying entities called Rods in the top left hand corner. :-)

If you were really tough, you would light it like Mongo did. Sticking your head in the fire and farting as you lit your cigar.:-)

Anyone light before they clip? I tried it a few times got a nice even light but it just seems so backwards.

I've never done it, but have read of people doing that. They do it supposedly to prevent the bitter lighting smoke from going in the cigar.
