Most of you know I broke my back at work last March.
In October I had surgery and got a bunch of screws and pins and rods and bone grafts.
Here it is, not 5 months from the surgery and I'm going back to work. I called my Doc a couple days ago to ask his permission and he called me yesterday with the go-ahead.
I turned down a job yesterday because it sucked, and got called today for a good one. It's at a powerhouse about an hour and a half south of here.
I'll be working five ten hour days, likely 6 tens starting next week.
I've talked to a bunch of the guys there and everyone is happy I'm coming back to work. They're certain to take care of me while I get my legs back, and they'll all look after me, too. They'll put me somewhere that's not so physical until I can't stand it, too. (I get bored REAL quick.)
I start Monday morning.
:-)

My "sea-legs", brother. Not my real legs.
I work as a pipefitter. As such, we work wherever the work is. In a powerhouse, it's all "way up there".
It's customary for me to work 200 feet in the air standing on my head holding stuff with my ass while someone else is shooting sparks at me and someone above me is dropping stuff on me.
It's just what it is.
There's good things about my occupation, too. This particular job pays about twice what I'd have made at the job I turned down yesterday. It's supposed to be good till Christmas. That means I'll be looking for another job in December.
Realistically, I'll quit long before that and take a job nearer to home.
It all depends.
In this business there is zero job security. One day I have a job, the next day I don't. It's the way it works. Cool thing is that if I get a bug up my ass, I just go home and get another job.
It's not what most people are familiar with at all, and on one hand it really sucks, but on the other hand it's very flexible and liberating.
I hate it, always have, but it pays the bills.
