So I picked up the 601 Blue label because so many folks are saying it is a great stick...man I had no idea. Pre-lite draw was a tab loose but that's ok. Construction was beautiful smooth and leathery with a big ring gauge. Fire it up and instand spice and a bunch of it...at the same time it is very sweet like a deep black cherry nectar sweetness....it wedges a bit on me but bounces right back...half way through and I am buzzing big time...this dude is very strong...I gotta sit is down for a sec and sip some rum to compose myself...I finish it off and damn was it good...this stick hit me hard! I think I have found one of my new favorites from the Pepin line! If you like the JJ maduro (which was my favorite Pepin stick) please do yourself a favor and try the 601 Blue label...it kicks the JJ maduros azz! :-)

So I heard these are being done by Rocky Patel now (hence the new band, take it or leave it) but the blend is not going to change. Any truth to this?

Yes, but Pepin is still making them for now. Rocky bought into the company and is in charge of marketing/distribution. But for now, Pepin is still making them. Not sure how long their contract is to make them, but my guess is that as soon as the contract is over, Rocky's factory will be making them.
