Hey all,
Recently, I thought I was having some humidity issues in my humi even though its got about double the beads in it I need. Replaced the battery in my hydrometer because I heard that a low battery can cause weird readings.

Put it back in and was still getting strangely high readings. Just salt tested it and it reads 90% Adjusting it didn't lower the number on the readout.

My question is, can I just always assume it's 15% high? Or does this sound like it's just gone totally bad?

I wouldn't chance it for long, I'd spend the scratch and get a new one. :-)

If the hygrometer was off by a point or two that would be within the acceptable range and you could get away with just adding or subtracting the difference each time you read it.

A 15 point difference is pretty big -- way outside most manufacturers accuracy ratings, so I would take Tom's advice (Tom is wise!) and get yourself a new one.

I agree, get a new one. Is it worth the risk of losing your cigars worth it??

I just had to do the same thing, tired of fooling with the analog.
