I had three really good cigars in a row.

First it was the Est. 1844, then the Diesel Unholy Cocktail followed up by the 5 Vegas "A" series.

I loved all three of them and thought they all tasted somewhat alike. I wondered if they had anything in common. Upon research I was correct.

The Est. 1844 - The blend starts out with a San Andreas Maduro Mexican wrapper. This is another tobacco that AJ is familiar with which further solidifies that he just might be the mastermind behind this blend. The Binder and Filler are both Nicaraguan puro.

The Diesel Unholy Cocktail-Boasting fillers from Nicaragua's Jalapa, Condega and Esteli regions, each and every leaf is aged for three years, then concealed with a dark and oily Pennsylvania Broadleaf wrapper. This is also made under the A.J. Fernandez name.

The 5 Vegas "A" Series- The Wrapper is a Costa Rican Maduro. The binder is Nicaragua and the filler is Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, Honduras.

I realize the 5 vegas uses filler from different countries other than Nicaragua and I could tell that it was slightly different than the first two. The 5 Vegas had a deeper spice/roast to it than the 1844 and the UHC. It was still right on par in flavor with the others IMOP.

I'm excited that I may have found something to look for in cigars. It gives me something to look for when buying new cigars.

these are ALL blended by AJ Fernandez. look for cigars made by him. he has a distinct blending style and you seem to have fallen for it.

check out the Man O War line as well. those are probably my favorite put out by him.

if you want to branch out to other blenders you may want to check out Don Pepin Garcia. the blending style is different but he also has a good amount of spice if that is what you likes about the AJ blends.

Yes, and I believe all of them are exclusives from CI.

the "A" is not blended or made by AJ. It comes out of a factory in Honduras and AJs factory is in Estali Nicaragua. The "AAA" is made in AJ's factory and has the PA broadleaf that he has been using quite a bit.

....at least that was my understanding.

Weird. I love any diesel!

The 5 vegas and MOW I have had, Can not stand. I have yet to try a 1844.

I seem to have a liking for the Nicaraguan stuff as well.

Most guys head in your direction, Josh. They generally end up at Nic Puro maduros and Dominican puros, if you want to shave off some searching time. You can branch forward and backward from there. Make sure to ask about cigars you think you might like and check reviews.
It's hard to find those in value or less expensive lines, and you'll start looking at $7-$12 a stick for the really good stuff, so make sure you dig deep through the $3-$7 stuff before heading off to the more expensive.

I love Nic Puros. I kind of like Doms. I hate Hondurans.

The Diesel UHC's are 4$ a pop. That's the cheapest cigar that I enjoy, currently.

I tried the Vegas A and was meh'd by it, it just wasn't for me.

The only AJ blend that was awful was the Park Avenue. Ugh.
