No offense intended, but realistically that's the likely outcome.
No offense intended, but that is not realistically the likely outcome. Detroit has seen professional championships for the Pistons and Red Wings in the last decade and there has been no looting, nor have there been any wildfires. We've hosted the super bowl and the final four, and everyone has played nice. The tigers went to the world series in 2006 and there was no rioting either when the team won the ALCS, or lost the series. There are plenty of reasons to bag on the city - the behavior of its fan bases is not one of them.

I thought you didn't care?

Understand this: People who "hate" the Yankees claim they do so because they spend so much money, but that's not true. They do so because the Yankees have had success while spending money to accomplish this. Were they as ineffective as, say, the Os or Mets . . . or even the Red Sox over the past 2 years of missing the playoffs entirely . . . no one would give a damn how much they spend.

Understand this too: The Yankees have won more post-season games than any other MLB franchise. The Yankees have also LOST more post-season games than any other MLB franchise, so a rational fan has become inured to that fact. But perhaps, as a Tar Heel, I have that advantage over many others . . . I've been there many March days, as well as many October evenings. :-)
Sounds like a lot of effort jumping into the Tigers/Rangers thread to spread your "indifference".

BTW, I love the 1984 references to riots. Check your calendar, that was 27 years ago.

You didn't see me ragging on NYC for the "Occupy Wallstreet" communists and their preference for deficating on police cruisers. Nor did I point out your former-governor's penchant for hookers.

Furthermore, the stealing done in Detroit is not done by mobs and looters; it's done by the local government. Ask the Hip-Hop Mayor himself, I think he's out of prison for the moment.

Now go away. :-)

^^Hey! What's wrong with hookers?? :-)

As a big Tiger fan, I'm truly disappointed the team as a whole hasn't really shown up in the play-offs. Especially the big guns. Guys like Rayburn and Santiago out hitting Cabrera and V-Mart is pathetic. Verlander struggling. Heck, Porcello's WHIP, BB and hits allowed is better than Verlanders during the last 2 series.

And Leyland's continued corn-ball decisions continue to mystify. Seriously....Perry hadn't instilled any confidence during the regular season. Why put him on the roster at all? So he brings him in after Valverde struggled. I knew what was going to happen. As soon as Perry trotted out, I said "This game is over". And I was right. Perry has struggled in non pressure appearances. Did anyone really think he'd shine with a play-off game on the line?

I know I'm being harsh...but geez. The Tigers are a better team than this (I thought, anyways). I wish Leyland had been let go, honestly. He's NEVER had a sense of urgency about any game, has shown he can choke in key games down the stretch and eventually that lackadaisical attitude permeates to the players. I have never been a Leyland fan since he quit on the Marlins in 1998, then quit again with the Rockies. Once a quitter......

Go Tigers....but I'm not terribly hopeful after the overall poor showing of this team...

Detroit Tigers outfielder Delmon Young has been scratched from Detroit's lineup for Game 3 against Texas, manager Jim Leyland announced Tuesday.

Andy Dirks will replace Young.

Leyland said he does not know what Young's availability will be for the rest of the AL Championship Series.

First, this skates dangerously close to being political, which is verboten. Me, I don't much care, but the ToE might. Second, I have no governor, former or otherwise. But New Jersey's former governor had a penchant for boys, not hookers. The present one has a penchant for Ding-Dongs. :-)

Now go away? Now make me. And while you're at it, play your little games on time, and stop screwing with my TV schedule. :-)

Amen, brother. And this here just a game too, as far as I'm concerned. I'm just trying to have some fun. Yeah, I dish out a lotta jokes, but I can take them too.

Great pitching match-up coming up tonight. Lewis is 4-0 in the playoffs and coming off of a good pitching performance against the rays. Fister pitched a great game against the Yankees in game 5 and finished the season 4-0 with a .98 ERA at home. Going to be a fun one to watch.

And since I'll be watching CBS tonight, instead of trying to see Terra Nova and House, you can play 'til Wednesday if you want. :-)

If it was the Yankees and the Rangers, I would be watching Terra Nova reruns if need be. :-) And I don't even know what Terra Nova is.

Were I to be watching Yanks/Rangers, I'd likely have seen what I saw last night . . . too many men left on base, and a possible win pi$$ed away. :-)

And Terra Nova is a decent new SF show about human settlers in a parallel world with dinosaurs, 85 million years in the past. It's too soon to know if it will be classic, but it beats watching another "reality" program . . . or two teams I don't care about. :-)

I wish. I was up until almost 2 AM last night. DVR'd the Tigers and Lions on MNF. Huge dissappointment at the end of that 11 inning game.

It seems you get my point. My digs are as irrelevant to this thread as yours.

I've DVR'd all the episodes so far but haven't had a chance to watch it yet. I too am a SF guy.

He came back out and was walked without swinging the bat. He came out later and lined an out into left-center. He didn't seem to be in pain. I'm hoping he's ok going forward.

That all said, Tigers Win!!! :-)

Glad to see Victor swing hard after the "injury".

Also glad to see see him, Cabrera, Peralta and even Jackson making some contact. If Porcello can give us a good outing and the bats keep cracking, maybe Verlander will be pitching for the 3-2 lead.

What he said, plus I hope the weather holds out. As of now Verlander could be getting rain AGAIN. :-)

Both Delmon Youn and Victor Martinez are in the starting lineup for Game 4.

The Tigers need to keep the Rangers out of extra inning games. If they get there, end it in 10. If it goes to 11, hope Nelson Cruz isn't batting. If he is, intentionally walk him. Especially if the bases are loaded. Just sayin'. can't wait for game 5. Hope C J pitches better tomorrow.
