You ever get ideas for random projects? Personal or Professional? some practical, some less so?
I do, all the time in fact...
You Know You're Crazy When (YKYCW) will be a series of newly thought, self-driven project proposals/ideas/aspirations in their infancy, open for discussion and suggestion by anyone who feels they have something to
CONTRIBUTE. That last word being the entire focus of the YKYCW Discussions.
I have a few project ideas that will follow under the YKYCW heading, but I encourage anyone else who is exploring new ideas to use the title and add to the series as well...
First few Project Ideas/Discussions will be...
1) YKYCW-Intro
2) Creation of a Zen Garden / Table
3) Leaning the Harmonica - Blues Harmonica
4) Leather Working & Crafting
5) Aquarium Setup & Species Selection
6) Rock Carving & Material Selection
7) Estate Pipe Restoration Projects (17)
I look forward to your participation in my madness...
:-) :-)

I've always wanted to create a one stop shop like place for job hunting. All these places like The Ladders, iJobs, CB, Monster, ect ect have you build a profile and upload your resume and they all come out formatted differently. Then you go to apply for a job and are redirected to the companies webpage and have to fill out all their crap.
One stop shop. You send my company your resume and the links to the jobs you want to throw your hat into the ring for and we do all the leg work for a nominal fee. Every time you want to update, send it to us, we update and distribute. Its beyond a full time job trying to find a full time job and its a waste of time for the hunter. That's my idea anyway...

Very interesting Idea James, and yes I know from experience all those job websites are very frustrating and misleading indeed... I believe one of them, Monster comes to mind for some reason, took all your info and then sold it out to spam companies....
It's a good suggestion, and if you want to develop it, throw it into the series, YKYCW - 8 , although I don't know where you would start on making this idea a reality, someone on here might, and thats exactly what YKYCW is all about!!!!
:-)
Any other Idea / Topic Suggestions anyone?

Just started the book concept. Have a business idea for a website/advertising business. Restarting my consulting business. Yard work, etc. looking into making my own bacon.
Just some minor stuff.

I've been gnawing at it poking around for about a year now on it but just don't have the capital. Monster...don't get me started...worst job site on the planet and yes, they sell all your info off and you get plenty of spam.
Ironic how in they hey day of subprimes and mortgage refis how when I created a monster account within 2 weeks all I was getting was eMails telling me my mortgage was too high and my wedding tackle was too small or they could keep my tent pitched longer and cheaper than the big V from Pfizer.

Just post something in general discussion,
Title it YKYCW- 9 - One Stop Jobs, or whatever you want your project to be called... give us some more detail and framework and post any specific problems or issues you have to overcome and I am sure someone will offer up some advice...

Yup...bacon. I live in a huge hog producing area. I can get fresh pork belly for 75 cents a pound. Thinking of starting with 5 lbs. gonna try it without nitrates....salt, smoke and a bit of maple syrup.

Are there going to be 9 seperate threads, or everything here? I would suggest the latter, as we woudn't want to monopolize the general discussion forum.

Well Ideally I was thinking separate threads titled similarly covering each interest... if I were to post all developments to all interests here wouldn't it get rather entwined and more difficult to follow progress in each area?
I understand your concern Tom, any solution you find acceptable works for me... Perhaps a pet project sub-forum?

Cigar Asylum is a hobby forum. While there are many disparate subjects and sub forums, having more dedicated sub-forums would seem to dilute the main site a bit too far, IMO.
Gosh, I didn't think there were enough banter threads already. While all of the ideas seem like "wonderful" "unique" "wacky" "crazy" kind of self indulgence, (one or two of which I have taken part in.) (shh... I prefer not to share ~everything~ with everyone.) it may be going a bit too far to ask our hard working admin staff to further monitor more forum subject matter. Might I also add that they do this for no monetary reward, and ask for none, and prefer it that way, and have set up CigarAsylum as a free site where we can gather and shoot the bull on enough topics and subforums.
One of the great things about the crazy dang intrawebz thing is that with a small amount of searching, you can probably find sites dedicated to any number of esoteric, perverted, and downright whack-job-y subjects.
It's like the Wild West.
