Wow, more KL'ers than I thought in here. That seemed to be all the rage/hallmark of the other/old board.

What is a good container for the beads? I'm using a glad container without the lid. I'm thinking about poking holes in the lid so I don't have a giant mess one day though.

Prior to that I was using a ziplock bag partially opened. That didn't work well at all. My RH was hovering at around 50%; after switching to the container I'm right at 65% almost all the time.

Mesh bags work great. I also use some cheap, unused nylons that my wife bought. There's lots of surface area to absorb and release moisture.

No option for "multiple".

Heartfelf beads for control (probably have 5 lbs between humis and coolers). I use drymist sticks in my humis for moisture input. When the cooler beads start to get low, I spray them with water. They don't need recharging very often.

Shilala Beads! ! !
The very best ones around. Buy these beads and never have to buy beads again.---unless you buy another bigger cabinet.

I am in no way affiliated with Shilala, Shilala Inc., Shilala Beads, or Shilala Beads Inc.----:-):-)

I have about 2 lbs in each of my Vino-temps. If I notice the RH a little low I put a saucer of distilled water in over night and I am fine for another 3-6 months.

Way to go Michael continuing the great customer service of Scott Shilala the creator of HCM.

When you are able to get a new Humi you'll have the HCM beads waiting.

I bought a jar of xikar beads. It says when the beads shrink to add their pg solution... Do I really need to add the pg or can I just use distilled water?

All I have is travel humidors, so I just load each one up with boveda packs and it works great!

Should be fine with distilled water, PG solution is usually a 50/50 mix of PG and distilled H2O. The PG helps as an anti-bacterial and preservative to the solution

Currently stuck with a humi jar but plan to upgrade to beads in a month or two.

I voted for beads, but I do use the Hydra XL in one of the cabinets.

Shi's beads for maintenance. Moist-n-aire for adding in the cabinet (6'x5'x2')
