Accessory Discussion / Reviews>Treasure Chest Humidor?
Sonic04GT 07:09 PM 01-09-2012
I saw one of these at a Spec's Liquor when I was in TX and thought it was pretty cool. However, I was on my way out and it didn't have a price tag or any info next to it.

Has anybody seen anything like this? Looked like at least a 150-200ct. Not sure I could afford such a piece right now but was curious if anybody has seen or purchased one?

Had a rugged unfinished wood look to it with metal bands. Closely resembled the stereotypical treasure chest.

Nope. It had more grungy exterior features. I like the interior of that though.

I've been trying but so far coming up empty-handed. This is pretty nice though :-) I know glass tops are typically frowned upon but they're aesthetically pleasing.

It's a little fuzzy in my mind but I believe it looked similar to this, but with a rougher unfinished look like a "real" treasure chest.

Or maybe I'm just losing my mind. I don't intend to purchase a new humidor right now but I really liked the idea for when the time comes. I grew up around the ocean so this stuff fascinates me :-)

It was sitting on the shelf at the Round Rock location if anyone happens to stroll through there. I supposed I could call tomorrow. When I was there a few weeks ago the lady couldn't really provide any info but said it was kind of pricey.

Yeah true, more prone to leaking is your sole reason I assume? I've always liked that style but would make more sense to have one main door and the drawers inside.

Every point where a humidor opens is potential for leaking. Not to mention the seams where glass meets wood in glasstops is notoriously prone to leaking. It's nice being able to see what's inside, but I'd advise going with a solid top with no drawers for simplicity sake if you're going with a mass-produced humidor. Quality just tends to be so hit or miss.

Makes sense :-) I have one glass top 50ct and one solid top and they both maintain humidity very similarly but I usually keep the solid one on top as to block out light for the glass on the bottom since I store them in a back room for now. Not much to show off in an empty guest bedroom. Too warm elsewhere.

Not quite that fancy but that looks neat, and expensive. Especially if it's by Gurkha haha

That's probably about the closest so far. I can't recall exactly what it looked like but this is nice. Thanks :-)

It's not a treasure chest but this is the one you need....or get a few for bombs. :-)

It's a tad bit pricey though.
