I ordered a bundle of the Lanceros a few weeks ago on impulse. I've only tried one so far, and didn't pay a lot of attention to the flavor notes and whatnot since I was working on something in the garage and preoccupied when I smoked it. But I thought it was well worth the modest price. A medium-full bodied cigar that burned perfect. If they weren't out of the coronas, I'd pick up another bundle. If you like Nicaraguan tobacco, you'll probably like these. :-)

Oh, and I'm just putting this out there for all to see. If Mac gets any funny ideas and decides to send me more than the split: I've already designated a target in Madison NJ for complete destruction. I know I've been a ghost in these parts for a while, but I haven't stopped buying cigars.

Just sayin' :-)

Nuclear winter - Northern NJ - this July - Possible - Blame Mac

That is all.

Quick review of this cigar:

Smoked the CG size - less than one week humi time. Stored outside of cello to help.

Lighter wrapper than I thought initially, large stem running up one side just under the wrapper. Colorado shade, natural.

Good draw, typical NC (loose for me), well rolled, no loose spots, no loose bits of tobacco, obviously long filler.

Slight pepper notes, smooth and creamy. Not the typical Pepin pepper bomb. Mineral/metallic tastes, stays with the smoke most of the way.

Not a record breaker, not a dog rocket. Much creamier than I expected. Hopefully the metallic tones will go away with a proper rest and RH. Medium bodied and medium strength. Reminds me of a de-fanged Benchmade crossed with something Honduran. Wrapper exploded near the end, a la every Tat white label I ever had. I love the flavor of these thin wrappers though.

Back in the coolerdor for another month or so.

I don't think it's proper to attach a number at this time.

Right now -for the money - a good yard gar. If they settle in a bit, a very good value.

thanks for the review. Been wondering if I should pick up a bundle of lanceros.

I have the lanceros, Im not too crazy about them. Do you fellas think they would need some rest, and or would they benefit from the rest? I liked it, but just felt muted to me.

I haven't smoked mine yet simply because I wanted to give them some down time from their travels although I was really temped tonight to smoke one but decided to go with a Olive V Beli instead. After hearing these initial reviews I will make sure I give them at least a solid 2 weeks or at least a good 2 days in the dry box before torching one. If there is one thing I have learned over the years is Pepin blends smoke a whole lot better on the drier side. I've smoked the JG Reserva Especial at 65% and at 70% and they were two different animals with the stick stored at 65% smoking a whole lot better. I don't think age will hurt these either as Pepin blends seem to do good with a little age on them. I know the OR LHOs smoked very well with a year of age on them.
