Since we've all been talking about this, I figured we should have a thread designated to it. Last year's beer tasting was a great time, I propose we do it again.
I have no preference as to which afternoon we'll hold it, so anyone who will only be there certain days, speak up.
We can discuss contributions or leave them a secret, doesn't matter, but I'm sure I'm not the only one who's been stashing bottles for the occasion.
so... any interest?

Bummer about it is I have full size souvenir pints for everybody and I ended up making plans NOT to attend the Shack.
Guess I should have cooled my jets on the glasses until it got closer to the time I had to make a decision, the
company that makes em is blazing fast. But I am nothing if not a dumba55. Still looking for a Arkansan, Kansan,
Nashvillian or other to take em up for me. Anyone passing within a few hours of Memphis or hopefully right through it.
Problem is it's extremely out of the way for anyone but ME it seems. MAYBE a Louisianian. But I think I was the closest
thing to a Louisianian ever to attend.
At least i didn't have the ACTUAL Beer-tasting pints made up, that'd have been additional hundred bucks down the tubes,
but they were super bad and created in honor of my cousin from Michigan who wanted to attend with me who is a huge
Charles Bragg fan and the glass art was an homage to Bragg's work attached here below. I made some minor adaptations
like putting a beer pint in the girl's hand and adding the text Shack Herf Beer Tasting 2012.....I am so bummed out.

I'd be down for it. Are you talking home brew, micro brew, or both?
[Reply]
In the past it was microbrews in bottles, we had plenty of home brew, those who wanted to taste it, all weekend.
I know one thing, I had a freaking eye-opening time at the last one. Just epic variety and quality.

i had micro brew in mind, but of course, everything is up for discussion

I also really loved it for another reason, I got to hang out with a crowd I had been missing for years...Hootie is so busy
usually I never get to sit down and have some drinks and smokes with him, I met Ben a few years ago, and really had time
to chill and drink with him last year. EXCEPT for the heat under that tent that night, it was about the perfect part of the
herf for me last year. Just wow. Kristin also slows down for a few hours for that event, always a treat.

I've got several breweries near me and could bring a few growlers of my choice. Or bottles if that is preferred.

Last year was a great time.
Unfortunately, I will not be able to make it this year either.
I'll make up for it Shack IX. I have a great cellar of a few good beers going now and have been on track with some great homebrew recipes. A modified version of the California Common I brought last year advanced to the finals of the National Homebrew Competition. I'll bring an even further improved version next year!
Have fun brothers!

I am planing on bringing a case of the Cigar City Brewery Maduro Beer for anyone that wants to try it.

Aw hell I might just come down (up) and do it. I imagine DB will set me up on his floor for a night.
Ahaha, I FORGOT about meeting you , too Tim, we were working that corner.

Man, I loved that beer tasting. I brought a couple growlers from one I my local breweries. Love that tasting glass so generously givin by Brad. This year I'm bringing Founders CBS and Rogue brewery's doughnut maple bacon ale. I'm very much looking forward to doing this again even thought last year I kinda stayed quiet in the corner.

As third time doing this it keeps getting bigger and bigger. Hopefully a single bomber is enough for a tasting.

I would like to be in this, but my beer knowledge is null & void, I have been thinking about trying other beers, there is a store down the street that has a vast selection of beers I have never had and will let you fill up a 6pack with singles.
I think I will take a pic and let you guys see what I am talking about and see any of these are good to join in the fun.
[Reply]
That's the great thing Mickey, no knowledge is required, the guys that bring the beer have PLENTY of that.
All you need is taste buds and oddly enough, capacity. By the end of it you are getting full and drunk, lol.
