Island (The other ones) Reviews>Don Pepin Garcia JJ torpedo

This nice 5.75 x 52 torpedo is a Nicaraguan puro with a Nicaraguan Corojo oscuro wrapper. This blend was developed by Don Pepin and his son Jaime Garcia. The cigar has a barnyard aroma to it and feels well constructed.

I get a full flavored pepper and wood. The pepper fades away quickly but the cedar remains. After an inch I get hints of coffee and chocolate on my palate. Halfway the cigar, the pepper returns and soon after that a light coffee flavor is noticeable. The wood flavor is consistent and all the other flavors are build around it. The encore is a bit stronger and more flavorful, I taste wood and chocolate, with a peppery flavor on my tongue.

The smoke on this cigar is amazing; I get a lot from it. The ash is white and the burn is close to perfect. This is a medium to full bodied cigar, full flavored.

Would I buy this cigar again? You can count on that.

Great review. Both maduro and the natural are, by my opinion the best that Pepin makes. Keep the review coming:-)

I just had my first last night and I thought it was very lite and at best lite-medium...I only got a slight peppery taste on it which was consistant to the end but again lite....:-) Got a few more I need to try but I think the CI Pepin Legend had WAY more flavor. I hope the blues are fuller bodied...haven't had one yet but I got em! :-)

:-) The maduro is one of my top favorite non-Cuban cigars right now.

I thought the JJ natural was pretty good, but the JJ Maduro is absolutely phenomenal.

If you let the Maduro sit for a year or so it is even better. Had one with over a year on it and was making OOOOOOOOOO faces all over the place.

That and I had some blues from 06 that were friggin outstnding. His blends are the only NCs I am aging outside of a few opus and Padrons. They really do have a lot of potential. The issue is letting them sit.
