General Discussion>My Buddy Is Gone
CigarNut 03:12 PM 12-03-2013
We had to put our dog to sleep last Friday; he was 16 1/2 years old. He was a great dog! Sometimes he was finicky, sometimes he was a pet, but most of the time he was my pal. It has been an incredibly painful loss for both my wife an I.

May He Rest In Peace.

RainbowBridge.com

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....*

Very sorry, Michael.

If it's any consolation, look at it through his eyes. You showed him love and affection. You gave him a sense of family. If he could have given you a material gift, it would have been a photo of him…with the caption, "Thanks for a great time." Yes, there is a hole in your hearts. But there wasn't one in his. Now it's time for a new friend, a new pal, a new adventure.

Stay strong, Michael. Know there are friends and family that are with you during this sad time.

had my 12 yr old boy chocolate lab die sept 2012 and my 11 yr old boy yellow lab pass away in nov 2012 plus i lost my 18 yr old boy cat feb 2013. It was a loss almost too much to take at the time. My deepest sympathies to you and your wife right now.

Now i have 2 pain in my ass cats along with a massive troublemaker golden lab boy whose sole mission is to chew EVERYTHING he can! I love them all and wish you find new family members soon once the pain eases. God bless my friend! :-)
