I liked this movie. NOt as much as Casino, but it certainly sets the stage for some excellent flicks. I think with the whole, no wimmins comes from the whole getting past vesper. He was about to get past with Agent Fields, but sadly...

:-) Agreed, mostly. I wasn't bothered as much about the not-getting-the-women as I was with the thinly spread plot, a notable difference between Quantum and Casino. I'll gladly add it to my collection when it comes out...hopefully in blu-ray format if Santa does his job right.

I'll attribute the thin plot to the directing and editing, as there were hints of story's true drama peppered in and fully developed. SPOILER ALERT: I mean, water v. oil as the critical issue facing the world is a very real problem, and a few more minutes devoted to sussing that out might have lent more gravitas to the film. Might also have helped deepen the nefariousness of the Dominick Greene/LeChifre connection. That had potential. Meh. Still good stuff.

For me, the biggest complaint I have with Quantum was the torrid Bond theme, done by Alicia Keys and Jack White. A clunky mashup of soul-pop singing (sorry folks, that woman can't carry a note, don't care how hot she might be) and turgid downtempo pop-rock rhythms has NO place in a Bond film. A multi-note fart from Steve Carrell would have been more appropriate.
