Just seen Maria Padilla, a local women was the lead soprano.
The singers were great but the play was very slow.

I've liked what I've heard but have never been to see an opera live. I hope to one day go.

As much as I love classical music, and as much as I can fully appreciate the remarkable artistry of an operatic singer, I have never been able to get into opera itself. Perhaps it is my own crassness and ignorance, but I feel I'm missing the point of it . . . largely due to my lack of the linguistic knowledge to understand what's happening when it's sung in Italian, German, French, or even English.

Hey, I'm still trying to figure out the words to "Louie Louie". :-)

I grew up listening to it while driving to Maine a few times every summer with my Italian grandfather.

I can't say I hate it but I couldn't tell you one from the other either.

I have a master's in voice and sang with Florida Grand Opera in Miami for 5 years and Orlando Opera for 1 year before they went out of business. Used to teach private voice before I went back to school.
