Some of the PNW group were talking about music this afternoon, and it was clear that it would be easy to list some of the greatest females vocalist [I'll leave that for someone else to start that thread
:-) However, we ran out of names at about a half dozen
great male vocalists. We're not talking entertainers or musicians -- vocalists. Yeah, MJ was a great entertainer ... but not a great vocalist. One name per post. I'm going with low-hanging fruit:
(1) Frank Sinatra

When MJ was a kid, his voice was sublime.
1. Frank Sinatra
2. Glenn Danzig (who did you think I would list first?
:-))

I dunno about "great", but my favorite male vocalists are:
LEMMY, Tom Waits, and Howlin' Wolf. I wouldn't add them to the list of Greatest male vocalists though.

Hmmm ..
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glenn_Danzig I'm familiar only with 4, 5, and 6 on your list. We came to the conclusion that Johnny was a great man, great entertainer, but not on the list. Roy Orbison made it. Elvis, interestingly, didn't even come up. The King of Rock, but I suspect it may be analogous to the King of Pop.
:-) Other thoughts?

Certainly a musical genius, but not a
great vocalist.

Guys like Bing Crosby, Nat King Cole to go way back
Otis Redding, Bill Medley not as far back, etc etc

I mistakenly thought you were asking for opinions. And well, since this is going to be all about you and your groups opinions this thread is pointless.

his music isnt what most would consider beautiful by any means. but the man really can sing.... If he put on a suit and sang crooners, I bet he would have had all the ladies swooning over him.
