Accessory Discussion / Reviews>Question regarding 5-count Herf-A-Dor
Sonic04GT 04:07 PM 12-11-2011
I have been told these are known to over-humidfy, so my question is: Do you fill the humidifier in your Herf-A-Dor or just use it dry? I am traveling out of state for 12 days and bringing 5 of my babies with me.

If you do fill it (I would use distilled water only, no PG) do you allow the cigar a certain time to sit in ambient air before smoking to mitigate burn issues?

I never use the humidifier in my 5-count.
Cigars shipped from overseas are often in-transit for 12 days without humidification and do fine.

I never use the humidifier in my 5 or 15 count. Like Peter has said, the sticks will be fine.

I just put a Boveda packet in mine. Mine stays in my car all year long.

I have had sticks in my Herf-a-dor for weeks after forgetting them, they are perfectly fine afterwards. The thing is super air tight so there is virtually little to zero humidity loss.

I made the mistake of filling my 15 count humidifier up days before a herf. The cigars were so wet they could hardly stay lit, and this is days later. you'll be fine without filling it up.

I use a small boveda pack in my 15 herf-a-dor, but I store cigars in there all the time.

I sometimes use a boveda pack and sometimes fill it but I tend to fill it once every couple of months but my 5 count i don't think I've ever filled and it works great!

Oo, NCRadioMan sent me some CA stickers. I'll have to slap one on also :-)

My Drymistats are in both of my humidors so I'm leaving those where they are as they're been fairly steady, but I like the idea.

:-) I love having smokes in my car. Only time mine comes in the house is for a refill.

Looks like your question has been answered. Now I have one. Did you transpose the numbers in the original post?

Last time I left home for 12 days, I took a 30-count a 15-count and a 5-count. And I was a bit nervous and looking for a B&M around day ten. :-)
(And just a humipack in the 30.)

Hahahaha I smoke maybe a couple per week so I think I'll be fine. I plan to probably purchase a couple while I'm there anyway.
