Can't say it surprises me, but still sad:

He still has a couple of good years in the back field IMO.

Good luck LT!

:-)

Surprise to me for sure. He may be a little elderly by running back standards but he is still better than half of them out there. Hope he will be picked up by a good team.:-)

This is the exact reason I never fault a player for holding out, getting every dollar they can.

You can go from the MVP to looking for a job in a blink of an eye.....the $$$ remaining on your contract is not worth the paper it was printed on...

This is especially true for running backs.

Hard to believe he's been playing nine years. I had so much fun watching him run for TCU--he was a man among boys. I really hope he goes somewhere else and has a few more solid seasons.

He is not done yet. Just done in SD. These things are financial as much as anything. He isn't producing feature back superstar numbers but he had a contract that pays for those numbers. They also have a starter in Sproles behind him. He likely will go somewhere else a greatly reduced rate of pay and play another season or two. One of my favorite players ever. Just a monster on the field and a gentleman off it as far as I know. Type of moment that reminds you that football is a business first and foremost.

I saw some rumors that he may end up in Philly. Now that would be interesting...

Beautiful. If there's anything I like more than watching the Steelers win, it's watching Philly lose. :-)

Okay. So it begs the question, why did he go to the Jets:-):-):-)

And why didn't another team pick him up? I can think of other teams that need someone like him a lot more than the Jets.

I think the Jets should have kept Thomas Jones. He came off a career year and then gets shown the door. Only to have the Jets sign Tomlinson. I really don't get why the Jets would take a player that came off his worst season as a pro.

I was thinking the exact same thing. Why drop Jones, who was third in the league in rushing, only to pick up LT? Maybe they feel Shonn Greene is the man now.
