General Discussion>Hurricane Irene
kelmac07 10:25 AM 08-26-2011
Well wishes to everyone about to be hit by this storm. Hoping everyone has "battened down the hatches" and is prepared for this thing. Supposed to hit the Carolina coast this evening and wreak havoc up the entire eastern seaboard. Best of luck to everyone in its path (including me). Keeping my fingers crossed that this thing fizzles out, but just in case.

Good luck to all the Easties. Stay safe. Grab your water, food, guns/ammo, and bug out to a safer location.

Yeah not sounding good this storm. They're talking it up like a 100 year storm. I hope it doesn't affect us too badly and it's more talk then actual happening. Be safe everyone!!!

Yes, good luck all those in the area, thoughts are with you. As a native South-Floridian I've been through my fair share, and I know we got very lucky with this one missing us.

Hurricane Herf????
In all seriousness I am hoping everyone fairs well. I was looking at the path and this thing looks like it is following a similar path as Gloria back in '85 which I think was the last time a Hurricane really beat up the Northeast. I know on Long Island that may have been the last one to do major damage. I'm hoping the media is just over hyping this thing to fit in with the doom and gloom since the earthquake happened to be in the same week and it dwindles down to a Tropical Storm. Good luck everyone.

Just spent all day putting everything in my yard into the shed.
With my luck, the yard will be fine, but the shed will blow away.
On a brighter note, I got on the roof to clean the gutters,
and unlike the last time, I used the ladder to get down instead of a bush.
Here's hoping everyone stays safe and dry!

Between last night and today, I've been preparing and helping family prepare for the worst. Hopefully, it will be far from it. Stay safe everyone potentially effected.

So far, so good. Branches down, loads of rain, and one power loss (for about an hour). Eye of the storm is supposed to hit this area in about an hour and a half. Still keeping finges crossed.

i spent the past day or so boarding some things up, and securing doors and windows; fun.. Put everything in the garage and shed.

i will not be evacuating though.. gonna ride this one out.. I guess i should have waited another year to move close to the ocean. lol..

I dislike when Mac gets on our Roof, :-) we have been running around like crazy since our return from our Jersey Herf Trip, after the earthquake :-). it took us 2 days to find a place for everything in our yard...and to stand in line for gas, water, propane and food. the Generator started like a champ! we are ready.. so far we have lost power 2 twice but it came back on.:-) wishing Irene passes over us fast.. but it does not look like it. BE SAFE! for anyone in her path Big Hugs
