I decided to make a travel humidor for a couple of reasons.

I live and work in Kuwait and the one B&M that sells them is way to expensive about $45 for a 5 count. Next if I buy one online and have it shipped it would cost more than a small pelican case and a small round bead humidifier. Last I enjoy doing making this because then I get exactly what I want not only what is available on the market.

So I am curious what you all think and if any of you have made an your selves?
Here are a couple of photos of my finished product.

Pelican cases make excellent traveldors. I have a larger one that has a lot of miles on it.

I didn't do anything other than pull out the excess foam though since I don't live in a desert.

Nice job on the DIY traveldor. Very slick and nice!

45 bucks is insane. But then again, I have seen some leather cigar cases go for more.

That kind of fuel in the bic will make the cigar taste funny/bad, need more refined butane...need something like this

BICs give me thumb blisters trying to light anything bigger than a cigarillo... then again, I live in a suburb, drive a hybrid, and my dive watches have never seen anything deeper than a swimming pool.

if you have an APO I'm sure someone would bomb you a Ronson Jetlite, DealExtreme 1300c, or similar inexpensive torch!

I understand that you are just trying to help, but there seem to be a few things you are unaware of or you are confusing Bic with Zippo.

That is completely incorrect about the fuel in a Bic, it's actually on par with the higher grade fuels for the torches, which BTW, is mainly just to keep the mechanics in the torches from gumming up and the burner from coking up.

To even think that a chemically treated piece of wood is going to burn cleaner is foolish.

As for the flavor, laughable. Ever been to a cigar factory? Pretty much all you'll ever find are bic lighters. Last time I checked, the blenders, owners and QC guys who are all using Bic lighters probably know a lot more about what can and can't taint the flavor of a cigar than someone with 8 months experience smoking cigars.

Now, if you were confusing Bic with a liquid fueled Zippo, then yeah, depending on the fuel in the Zippo, it might mess up the flavor. Some fuels are worse than others. The Ronsonol yellow-bottle fuel is horrible, Zippo white/black can actually burns pretty clean and might not be noticeable on the stronger cigars.

So just to clarify I do have a good single jet lighter that I care with me for my cigars. The travel case i made just to have at work in my desk so I always have a cigar in case I forget one at home or something. The BIC is there in case my torch runs out of fuel.

Always be prepared, that way I can always go have a nice smoke and never be like oh I'm out of fuel or a cigar for that matter.

I use a Zippo to light a beeswax candle. With that I light one Kingsford charcoal brickette. I use that to toast a Spanish cedar spill that I then light with my Xikar torch. Then, if there's any time left, I'll light a cigar.
