ysr_racer 07:47 AM 05-18-2011
One stopped working after a week, one's called a Ronson Jet Lite :-)

Wish I had knowd about the Ronson BEFORE I bought the Xikar. Now I have to package the damn thing up and send it back for an exchange.

:-)

My Ronson from my NST a year ago (holy crap has it really been a year?) is still holding up juuuuust fine. Easier than matches and better than any other lighters I've had so far :-)

What's the problem with the Xikar? I have found that most problems with lighters are easily fixable.

It only lights about 1/2 the time. Sometimes it flames, then goes out. Other times there's no spark.

Can it be fixed or do I have to send it back?

What brand of fuel are you using?

Have you tried hitting it with compressed air (I've used butane in a pinch, too). There could be something down in there keeping it from firing up consistently. :-)

Ronson Mulit-Fill butane. Should I try something else?

Now the damn thing works again. How do I know when it's full of butane? Or do I just fill it for few seconds and call it done.

This sounds to me to be another case of a lighter in need of a good purge. Take a small screwdriver, a little phillips
or a wide jeweler's flat screwdriver and push in the fill valve and bleed out everything that's in there.
Maybe let it heat up in your hand and do it again. Then fill as normal, about three pumps, both units in
the upside down position, the lighter and the can. That MIGHT JUST do it. Forgive me all, if that's not
how a purge is performed. It works for me, though.

Ronson has a lubricate in it specially for ronson that can gum up other lighters, try Vector or Xikar, and it should only take a second or two to fill it.

Thanks, how do I know when it's full?

I take it there is no sight glass on the side. But butane will spray out the top and freeze your hand when full.

Not with the Ronson fuel. It just fills until I pull it off. I'll try another brand.

I use Vector fuel only and have zero problems with my lighters.

It doesn't need to be full, I mean if you have no window. Three short bursts will fill it.
NOW, in answer to your actual first question....the difference is the xicar is in a drawer
somewhere, and the Jetlite is in your herfcase.
