Wine, Beer, and Spirits>The Bourbon Thread!!

Over the last 2 or 3 weeks, I have tried the Van Winkle 12 Yr Lot B and Basil Hayden. While I enjoyed the Basil Hayden, I thought the Van Winkle was terrific. Really want to check out the Van Winkle 23 Yr. Must be amazing.

I haven't had bourbon in six months or so. What a shame since I'm from Kentucky. I think I'm going to go find a bottle of Rock Hill Farms around here. One of my favorites.

I had a Bottle of the 20 year old at my wedding a month ago, still waiting to try the 23 year old.

I have had bourbon before but never with a cigar...

Can anyone recommend a decent brand at a decent price that I can enjoy with a good cigar?

Woodford Reserve, $30-$34 a bottle and every bourbon IMHO should be compared to Woodford.

Start there, for it's price point it doesn't get much better.

Thanks for those suggestions. I am a beer nut and used to always drink beer with cigars but find it really screws up both experiences. I want to grab something different this weekend to try with my smokes. I will try and check back with my thoughts.:-)

My friend just got a bottle of George T. Stagg for his birthday. Consider me jealous.

Just ran out of Buffalo Trace over the weekend...and replaced it with another bottle of Buffalo Trace. Fantastic stuff.

Personally, I don't think there is any better advise than this!!!!

This doesn't mean to stop here, and I surely haven't. But, it's a darn good starting point!

I'm looking forward to getting one or two bottles of George T. Stagg when it comes to Ontario.

Got 2 (1 & 1/2 now) bottles of Stagg and 2 bottles of Sazarac :-)
My wife found them in Chicago, no limit on the amount purchased.

I picked up a couple bottles of Rittenhouse Rye, bottled in bond, 100 proof. Never had it, but for $25 each, can't be all that bad. Gonna have some tonight with some cigars and meatball subs :-)

It's very solid and fairly similar in flavor to Wild Turkey rye. They're about the same price and, by a couple of points, I'd give the edge to the bird.

Never knew that WT made a rye. Will look for that next time I'm at the store. Thanks for the tip.

Might be comparing apples to oranges, but have you had any of the Buffalo Trace Antique Collection ryes? If so, how do they compare?
