All Cigar Discussion>Ashton VSG seconds? (Similar)
Trace63 11:43 PM 05-26-2009
So, does anybody know if Ashton has any "seconds" like other manufacturers do? I would specifically be looking for a VSG second.

I know chances of that happening are 1 in a million so, does anybody have any other alternative to the VSG ( smooth chocolaty, slightly spicy stick ) ?

I have never ever heard of this

I'm pretty sure any top shelf cigar is not going to have seconds.

I'd be in on that if you ever find one! :-)

The Ashton VSG is made by Fuente and fuente has a distinct policy of NOT having any seconds. Anything that is mismade or veiney is either destroyed or smoked by the employees.

Unless you consider the 99 Rounds VSGs to be "seconds" since they were a frak up by Fuente in overfilling and thus left round.

LOL, thanks guys. I didnt think so but I thought I would give it a shot.

To the VSG? Not really. Maybe another sun grown? Rocky Partel has a line I believe but I've never tried it.

I have never had anything like the VSG. This is my favorite stick, so I too have been looking for something comparative.

There is nothing too similar that I have tried...but Rockys Sungrown are very good sticks and worth trying!

A unique cigar, I haven't had anything close either.

Doesn't Fuente have Opus and Anejo seconds? :-)

No they don't have seconds for either of them... Lemme find the link on Vitolas.net

Edit: Fuente also is ripped off frequently by less than reputable distributors who claim to have Arturo Fuente factory seconds. “There absolutely are no Fuente seconds,” Suarez said. “ If they don’t measure up to Arturo Fuente standards, they are destroyed at the factory or given to employees to smoke.” http://vitolas.net/displayimage.php?...ch&cat=0&pos=1

Not a VSG but have you smoked any of the Fuente Sungrown line? The best vitola IMHO is the Cuban Beli. Again, not a VSG but at $5-$6 a stick they are pretty great.:-)

Ok so after all this VSG talk is it really worth the California price to try one?

They are delicious . . .

I'll second the other Sun Grown vitolas from Fuente. I love the CF Sungrown and the Double CF Sungrown. Was really surprised when I found them at JR earlier this year. Great stick, great price. The CF SG is a super morning stick.
