Wine, Beer, and Spirits>Sam Adams Oktoberfest
bleedingshrimp 12:03 AM 09-12-2009
It's all about the Paulaner Oktoberfest...but in a pinch (like Thursday night for the ball game and I couldn't find Paulaner), SA Oktoberfest does just fine...it was really good actually.

As far as pumpkin beers there is Southern Tier Pumking....and everything else.:-)

I got a keg of this on Friday and we've really been enjoying it. It wasn't my first choice, but it was definitely the best option of the kegs available. Easy-drinking, tastes good, and goes well with cigars. I'll probably be hitting the tap again as soon as football starts today :-)

Got together with some good friends this past weekend up at Bethany Beach, DE. We had a "Taste Off" between the SA Oktoberfest and Harpoon's version. Harpoon won by a landslide--it had a better hop/malt balance which my buddies preferred. If you have some in your area, pick it up. :-)

We also ventured up the road to the Dogfish Head brewery for a tour & sampling. My first venture this year with their Punkin Ale draft (very good, seemed like a cross between SA's Winter Lager & an Oktoberfest.)

Soon as I upload some photos, might have to start a new thread about my adventures there!

My sister-in-law's boyfriend told me he had this on draft at a restaurant on Saturday. It's back! I'm headed to the store tonight on the way home. This is my favorite time of year for beer drinking.

I used to love Paulaner Oktoberfest Marzen when I first started drinking beer. Wonder if it's still any good.

I'll have to pick up a sixer of SA Oktoberfest to try out.

I agree, this is a great time of year for beer drinking! Has to get further into fall before the experience really peaks.

The 2010 fall mix pack is awesome. The Cherry has been replaced by Harvest Pumpkin Ale. Not sure if the Brown Ale is still in there but the rest are still there.

Just saw a few cases walk out of the shoppette over here. I'll be stocking up tomorrow after this typhoon passes through.

I was not thrilled with it either.
My Favorite is the Harpoon Oktoberfest.
