Wine, Beer, and Spirits>Went to the Store...
BigFrank 01:29 PM 11-07-2009
Well make a long story short. Mark C mentioned a pretty badass beer store bout 25minutes North of where I live. There is almost zero selection as far as craft, hard to find, etc beers near me. Unless I ask a store to carry them ( which isnt a guarantee ), plus who wants to buy 6 beers to try one? What if the one beer sucks?
So I made my trip up there today...

I'll put it this way, man child ( myself ) in a candy store ( beer store ) with a credit card....
I took two pictures in the store, then people starting looking at me like I was some huge jackass, so I put my phone away.
Heres two pics from the store.

Half of the shelf

The other half

There was one more full shelf of beers along with countless stand up displays. What was the best, all of the drink to get drunk beer, was buried in the back. I wasn't attacked by a miller lite display of 100 cases, or trampled by people running out of the store with said 30 packs of beer.

When it was all said and done.

Reminds me of a place in Valley Forge, PA called Mike's Deli. It was a little hole in the wall place with an awesome selection of imports and micro-brews.

check online, your state may allow beer to be mailed to you!

That must've been a Total Wine by the looks of it. You must be in Virginny.

Anyway... that World Wide Stout... I'll just give this advice. Make sure you don't drive after the bottle.

Okay, I'll tell you the ABV... 18%+ (small batch so it varies between 18% and 22%).

I do believe that Missouri doesn't mind. You need to make a friend who lives across the river from you. :-)

Nice haul Frank. I'd love to try that Arrogant Bastard. I learned about 2 new-to-me shops that have large craft brew offerings. I plan to check at least one of them out this week. I don't really stick pile beer though so I should drink some of what I've got before I buy much more.

I didn't think that was much of a stockpike!!!
I was "only" going to buy a few beers myself also. It's hard to not load up...

OMFG

You took a picture of Liberty ale and didn't buy one?

SHAME ... SHAME !

LOL

In the early-mid '80s that was the best beer in the country, bar none.

Nice haul ... enjoy them and definitely post your reviews.

Looks like you found a lot of good stuff! Every time I go in there I come out with something new. I don't think I've even made a dent in the complete list yet. They also have newsprint catalogues and would be more than happy to order something for you.

Harford County MD, believe it or not. Just off I-95, place called 'Wine World'. Sounds generic, but they're a great store, from microbrew to wine and liquor, great selection across the board.
