General Discussion>Suggestions on knives?
cigars_n_scotch 12:25 PM 03-27-2009
Hi all,

I'm looking for some suggestions on a knife to get. I'd like to pick up a tactical knife or one which would be good for camping or daily carry or to keep in my truck. I figured that some LEO's or those in the know who carry a knife daily or use one could lend some opinions and provide some sites for me to check out.

Thank you to anyone who provides information. FYI: I don't want a knife that costs me like $100, something in the below $85 range if that's possible.

There are some really nice Benchmades in that catagory

Black Class - Our Black Class products are designed, developed and tested for extreme duty. They are the preferred cutting tools for Law Enforcement, Public Safety and Elite Military Troops around the globe.

Red Class - Our Red Class offers “best in class” value. These edged tools possess the same Benchmade mindset of leading innovation, modern materials and quality manufacturing.

Blue Class - Our Blue Class represents the heart of everything that is Benchmade. These USA made products are designed and built for the individual who appreciates the difference that a high-quality cutting tool can make.

I have a Benchmade Griptilian and love the thing. When it was all said and done it cost me $105 but Im sure u can get it from somewhere else for less.

edit: This is the one I have.. http://yourcornerstore.com/index.php...ducts_id=16114

You can't go wrong with a Gerber or Cold Steel. I've carried both as a LEO and while working in Iraq and they are both great knives. :-)

Best of luck,

Chris......

Definitely look at Kershaw knives. Some great deals on Ebay.

I carry the Kershaw Onion with assisted open and love it. They are sharp as hell and many clip right on a belt.

I like my kershaw Blur with textured grip and partially serrated blade. they can be found for $50 - $70.

http://www.kershawknives.com/product...&brand=kershaw

I also like my Big 5 special Gerber Paraframe $20.00. Blade isn't the sharpest, but for futzin around it's a cheap inexpensive knife.

the best thing i like about the blur, is that i can carry it tip up or tip down.

For a good price the Boker Kalashnikov 74 automatic can be had for $44 to $37. It has a back strap safety and a AUS8 blade. I have had mine for over one year and have loved it,also, mine has seen more food use than any thing.:-) The only thing I had to do is bend the pocket clip as it was too strong to the body of the Knive.

Best of luck with your hunt sir. :-) PM me if ya want to get the site.

I have one of those Onions as well and it is a great knife. For some reason I have a Kershaw Vapor (designed by Ken Onion) that is all metal that I carry when I am working EMS. I paid like $20.00 for it at Wallyworld.:-)
