General Discussion>Leave it to me to break another Apple device
Blueface 06:17 AM 01-29-2009
OK,
I have only had the darn thing two days (iPhone).
Already, my photos and my music will not rotate when I rotate the phone from vertical to horizontal and visa versa.
I have noticed that happen at least three times now.
Anyone else with this?
I have installed the new update.

Any other similar woes I should know of so I don't go back to the store to return it as I did two MacBooks before landing on number three?:-):-):-)

Pete (replicant argent), if you are reading this, and getting ready to make a wise butt remark about Apple and me, here goes in advance: :-)

Hopefully there's a quick fix for it, but I'd would return it. Apple's good about these things. There's nothing worse than buying a new toy and having it act up. I kinda feel ripped off when that happens.

I am going to head to the store when they open at 10.

Anyone know a quick way to remove all this personal stuff from the phone?
Is there a master reset?

Now it is working again, all on its own, without me doing anything to it.
Something is definitely weird but seems this will be like that car you bring to the mechanic and doesn't act up while you are there.

Note to self:
Don't do everything you see on the internet.
It is now permanently stuck and won't respond at all per that video.

Ooops!!!:-)

Right after above post, came back to being on.
Photos stuck again and won't rotate.
Pucker is on his way back at 10.

Went back and tried that master reset again.
Seems it took this time.
Waiting on updates now.
Let's see if that fixes it.

Seems that is Apple's way around all issues. MASTER RESET!!!

Master reset done.
Phone set up again as if new.
Luckily, all my stuff that I downloaded (apps) were in my MacBook, in spite of asking to set up as new phone.

Let's see if it is fixed or if off to the store I go.

I haven't noticed this problem with mine, but it can get buggy sometimes. That could be cause mine is jailbroken and I'm running a lot of "non official" apps on it. For the most part though, it operates great. When it gets a little weird I just give it a reboot.

Perhaps the touchscreen is going up on yours, if it keeps up take it in and see what they say. This thing is too damn expensive to put up with that crap.

Ha!!!

Problem solved.

What consoles me is I know I am not the only one that went through this issue.
Found a couple of threads on this in the Mac Forum but had no solutions.

Went to the Best Buy store and waited for them to open.
There is a guy sitting there, that doesn't even work with phones.
Thought he did when I got there so I started talking to him and he patiently listened.
Seems the phone didn't work and suddenly, it worked again.

Well, what a dumb answer to all this.
Whenever I went horizontal, with the phone sort of flat, it doesn't work.
It is designed to work when at an ANGLE!!!

So, the guy quickly fixed the problem and off I went, into the sunset.:-)
Oh what a goose I am.

As an Apple basher, so as I tell my Apple friends, "You wanted a Mac, now you got one..."

Leave it to you Carlos haha.

I really don't know how you do it. My first ever ipod (20 GB from probably 3 generations ago) still works and that thing has been dropped, scraped, slammed, and anything else you can imagine. current ipod touch, macbook, and imac have never had a problem. You just have a green thumb for breaking apple stuff.

Hey, no bashing.
It was a user error, as usual with me.:-)

This is how it is that I do it Jim.

I am just extremely technically proficiently challenged.:-)

Carlos, you would make a perfect beta tester for Apple. If a product can survive long term with you, nobody will be able to break it. I remember your posts about the computer when you were having problems.
