All Cigar Discussion>Have You Heard of Repuff...
CigarNut 01:41 PM 08-21-2010
A friend went to ICPR and got some samples of something called Repuff (http://repuff.com/). It's some drops that you put on your lit cigar to allow it to be saved a re-lit (a lot) later on -- it is supposed to preserve the cigar and eliminate that "stale stogie" deterioration that happens to cigars that have been put out.

I have no desire to try this myself, but was wondering if anyone out there has heard of it and tried it...

Never tried it, but as people around here know, I tend to go and smoke old nubs, so I may have to try this.

I thought you were the maninblack not Roger Miller! "I smoke old stogies I have found. Short, but not too big around." :-)

Just off the top of my head, I would bet Snake Oil, but look forward to someone else being the guinea pig and posting results.

And as I think on it.... Even if I did have it(and it theoretically "worked")? I wouldn't probably use it.

I saw a short video discussing (shilling) the product a while back.
Zero confidence here in the stuff being worth anything.

I relight occasionally and don't have a problem with it,but I don't consider myself a super taster either.

sounds intriguing, it'd have to be 99cents for me to give it a shot though

Maybe if they explained in great detail the science of how it works, I could be persuaded into trying it. Hell, it would be great to have some cigar saver juice if it actually worked.

Yeah, no kidding.

Repuff is a Patent Pending formula which is made from the concentrates and extracts of the sap of a cactus, the juice of a fruit, the same preservatives (Potassium Sorbate and Sodium Benzoate) that are found in wine and health foods, and a small amount of food coloring to provide a consistent appearance.

All the ingredients are food-grade quality and used in proportions suitable for human consumption. In fact, all the ingredients are consumed regularly in health foods, herbal remedies, wine, and soft drinks. The concentration of each ingredient in Repuff is no greater than that which has been approved by the FDA in other products for human consumption.
So, that's all good and fine, but who the hell SMOKES wine, soft drinks and health foods?

And that FDA approval rating is for consumption by ingestion, not burning and inhalation. Who knows what they do or turn into at that point.

My buddy is a fierce cigarette smoker with adhd. He was visiting once and I was griping about having to let my cigar go out, cause they taste like crap when I go to relight them later.
He told me to blow all the smoke out of it. He said he did it all the time when he couldn't finish a cigarette and had to put out out.
I now make it habit to blow all the smoke out, or "purge" my cigar every time I set it down, just in case it goes out. I do it when I know i have to walk away from it, too.
It honestly works. I've saved many a good cigar that would have been wasted.
Try it. It even works when the humidity is all high and nasty.
It truly amazed the sh1t out of me. :-)

I'm with Scott on this one it does work. If I do relight, once I get it lit I'll keep the flame to it and blow outward a bit which also helps.

+2 -- that is what I try to do... Purging is simple and easy. I don't want to be inhaling some unidentified chemicals (ala repuff) to find out later I have been inhaling asbestos or some sh*t like that...
